Browns EDGE Myles Garrett on Jim Schwartz:
“I mean I like Jim; I like the coaches that we have. So, I don’t know what’s going to be in the future. Would I like to play under Jim? Would I like to keep the team and for us to improve? Absolutely. But these are things that are handled by people who sign my checks so they make bigger decisions than I can account for. So I’m going to allow them to do what they do – give my opinions if they ask for it. And I got to rock with whoever they have here. But I love Jim, and I love playing for him.”

Myles Garrett’s contract:
– Current cap hit: $23.67 MM
– Dead Money: $41.09 MM
– March 25 option bonus: $29.2 MM

  1. I’d love Garrett. I am not sending more than 2 firsts and a future 2nd though.
Because at #25 this year, you aren’t getting a guy who is capable of 23+ sacks a year. This defense with Garret would be top 5.

  2. I think the best option at edge is to pick up Khalil Mack in FA. It is cheap and he would elevate our d-line pretty well. Then you can draft Kayden McDonald. That's a really affordable way to boost our d-line a lot.

  3. With our rival GB picking up Micah, I have a pretty good feeling Ryan Poles is licking his chops right now and has a crazy trick up his sleeve.

  4. Trey would make more sense. He’s not as good as Miles or Max, but Trey would only cost money, not picks. We need to draft and develop some young guys for the future.

  5. No.

If we were one player away on defense then I'd be ok with it. But we aren't and trading away all that draft capital limits our ability to address the rest of our defensive deficiencies.

MG is a one of one player but the draft capital needed to aquire him along with the prohibitive contract add up to us having a flashy edge rusher and a ton of other holes we can't draft to fill because of the trade and we can't fill in FA because of the contract.

I'd live to see him in a Bears jersey but not at that cost.

  6. I’m sorry, I love draft capital. But say it’s a slew of picks. We had multiple mid round picks that haven’t done shit. Firsts are important. But this is why you reset your QB and run while he’s cheap, to make moves like this. They IMMEDIATELY become near the top of the favorites list if they grab him. He’d elevate what we already have as well. DJ is great. But you have too many other weapons to pay him top 5 if it means you get a Myles. This is Khalil Mack on steroids

  7. How would you free up enough money for him?? How many first round draft picks would you have to lose? We're talking Bears/Panthers type robbery for Cleveland.
