  1. Been fooled too many times I won’t believe anything until I see shovels in the dirt and still might not be 100% sure until I see the building starting to go up.

  2. DeSantis famously is against public funding for professional sports stadiums in Florida, so clearly Manfred is trying to remain on his good side as this deal gets closer and closer.

  3. I really don’t like how this governors office works that you can essentially buy favoritism from them but it will probably work for the stadium and getting state help via pressure on local governments. I will skip watching this because I can’t bear to see Ron Desantis talk.

  4. While DeSantis has spoken against funding stadiums, he has already said that the state would contribute towards infrastructure, which is a much easier sell for taxpayer dollars. Not sure how you splice up the cost of a stadium but i imagine a good chunk of the estimated 2B cost is for roads, drainage, utilities, parking lots, etc that can conveniently be considered infrastructure. Maybe they could put a weather antenna on the roof of the Stadium and get that covered too.

  5. I get that it’s very understandable to be skeptical after the past decade plus of boondoggles, but this isn’t another Stu stadium plan.

Negotiations playing out in private rather than in public, potentially months of groundwork done over last year as Zalupski circled the team, the sheer pace of the work they have done so far gives me some confidence. Seeing both the Gov and especially the commissioner in attendance for their big unveiling of plans/renderings is quite significant.

  6. These guys are real estate DeSantis bros. They are going to get their tax payer funded stadium no matter what.

Republicans love socialism for the rich.
