[Gleeman] Text from a high-ranking official in another MLB team’s front office: “What the hell happened to Falvey?”

  1. He will be hired as quick as he wants another job in baseball. Just like the others let go in the last few years. The problem isn’t the front office or the manager or the coaches. It’s the owners.

  2. Im at the point where i’ve calmed down.

My thought is 100% right call to move on from Falvey. But 100% at the wrong time.

And this isnt really a fresh start given Zoll is still there.

I get that Joe Pohlad was removed partway through the offseason and Tom needed time to understand how everyone works. But the optics of allowing a POBO to hire new staff, decide to stay the course rather than tear down and sign players if you werent sold on him is very very poor.

We look a mess, we lose leverage *if* we try to move players in the next few weeks and if we do want to alter course, we’ve lost a lot of time and need to make up ground

If im a GM looking for pitching im 10000% reaching out ASAP to see if i can snag Ryan/Lopez

My other concern is this: IF we now do go a totally different direction. If we trade players. It signals that the direction was chosen by Falvey. It doesnt install confidence that Shelton and his team are going to be considered more than lame ducks until we get a new direction

  3. Honestly, if I’m Buxton, I’m asking for a trade now. Not because of loyalty to Falvey or anything. But this is going to be a full organization overhaul and rebuild. I would not blame him in the slightest.

  4. I’d like to have been a fly on the wall for that discussion when he was told of his being fired

  5. It’s sad to watch your favorite sports organization run itself into the ground. Obviously we’ve all talked plenty about the ways the team has failed on-the-field and in the front office since 2023, but the business side of the team has been such a disaster lately too.

It is so disappointing they didn’t sell the team. Now would have been a great time for a fresh start
