If you think PCA is better than Julio then you don’t know ball
January 31, 2026
Did most of you vote for PCA because you live on the East Coast and the Mariners play most of their games while you’re sound asleep? PCA is a fun player to watch but he isn’t better than Julio.

Offense is similar but pca fell off hard in second half however his defense is a fuckload better. Think pca will be better since he should land in middle of his absolutely insane first half & his fairly avg second half.
The answer to all fan votes like this is hype. Couple years ago? JRod clears easily because he had more hype. This season, PCA couldn’t hit a beach ball for two months but he was a highlight machine
.287? I didn’t know it was that bad.
I need to see more from PCA to have an opinion on that. Especially since his hitting cratered in the second half.
J-Rod has potential to be a beast if he was just more consistent. He historically is trash in the first half and goes on a tear in the second half.
I am a Cubs fan and love PCA. Last season, they were similar (spare me the 2nd half slump stuff). Overall, it is Julio, and hes played longer. After another season or two, it will be PCA if he keeps it up at this pace.
I mean, it’s a fan vote, what do you expect? It’s more of a popularity contest anyway. Look at Julio’s first half stats last year. That wasn’t really all-star worthy, but he got in. Who cares though, it’s just a pointless ranking.
Julio dWAR for his entire 4 year career : 2.9
PCA dWAR last year alone: 2.0
Tell the whole story
Thanks for reaffirming I know ball
Bat only? Yeah J-Rod is better. Better overall CF? PCA’s defense DOUBLED the overall value of Julio, and I think Julio is an excellent defensive CF.
* Julio Rodriguez
* Statcast Fielding Run Value
* 2024 = 8
* 2025 = 10
* Statcast Outs Above Average
* 2024 = 8
* 2025 = 11
* Pete Crow-Armstrong
* Statcast Fielding Run Value
* 2024 = 16
* 2025 = 21
* Statcast Outs Above Average
* 2024 = 13
* 2025 = 24
PCA’s performance has been several standard deviations better than Julio. In baseball scouting 20-80 scale, Julio would be about a 60 grade CF, and PCA is an 80 grade CF. If you don’t think that makes up for, if not eclipsing, the difference between their hitting performance… You may be undervaluing defense.
PCA needs to develop plate discipline if he can do that he’s mvp level
PCA needs to be a consistent offensive player to be better than Julio. All these dudes posting numbers is great. If you have two months where you’re nonexistent at the plate, I don’t give a shit how good the other 4 months were. Those 2 months were horrific, even more so when you compare it to the start. And down the stretch? Yikes. PCA really needs work on his plate discipline. The dude swings at everything and his advanced hitting data was not good, quite bad actually, for the season, which means he very well could have just been on an insane hot streak that won’t be repeatable. Julio has proved his worth over 4 seasons. We need at least another season to answer this question with more clarity. Right now, the answer is no, PCA is not better.
Because the Cubs have a significantly larger fanbase. The same reason why most all-star voting favors LA, New York, and Chicago teams’ players
They are quite the same as far as your list of stats, look closer than the yellow highlight. They’re both very much on par with each other
I’d love either on my team.
they’re both fine young players, julio has been doing it for way longer and is just a bit older. but hardly grand theft.
PCA put up those numbers in the first half alone lol
Pca was awful in the 2nd half , I hope that was a slump not a trend
Right now? Julio has a slight edge, he might have an absolutely monster year and win an MVP at some point. The plate discipline isn’t there and likely won’t ever be there. PCA has shown better discipline, is a few years younger and still improving. Defensively, similar so call it a push. Julio is frustrating to watch, extremely talented but doesn’t have that look of a player grinding out every at bat. PCA seems to be more wired that way, while the offensive upside isn’t as high…I would rather have PCA.
Late career Julio +20-30lbs, moved to right field and just takes rips, if the bat speed remains…that would be interesting.
63 more PA with only 28 more hits , 1 more hr and less stolen bases. it’s a close call
If you think Julio is better than PCA. You don’t know a damn thing about ball. Especially baseball.
Rodriguez is definitely the answer. He also was Seattle’s second-half MVP last season.
PCA had only 2 good months. Let’s see him put together a full year
These are career stats. Julio been sucking lately. You need more information to make your decision than this.
But PCA has blue hair, kids wanna be like him, kids look like he does.
Stupid click bait. Both perform when it matters. Thats why we know their names.
I watch a LOT of mariners games and yeah, Julio is a straight terror.

JROD for life or you can just fuck off
