Idk if I’ve ever seen one player have such a vast negative impact on multiple players on a team as I have w/PJ & this roster. Just comically large jumps in efficiency & overall productivity for these players & ultimately team success (ie +/-) when he’s not on the court w/them vs. when he is. 😭

  1. PJ needs to play every opponent teams like they are OKC, that’s the mindset if he wants to win.

Of course if the main quest is tanking, perfect candidate for that

  2. he is a finisher, he needs table setter or he goes whatever he wants. he needs hierarchy. he will be better with kyrie healthy

whatever, he will be part of lebron S&T+ more in offseason

  3. I think PJ’s problem is mental. He was inconsistent and wasn’t seen as a very good player until he left the Hornets. Now, he seems to have returned to his old form. I’m guessing that it was easier for PJ to buy into his role when the team had an actual direction with Luka. Hearing Fire Nico chants when taking the game tying free throws at the beginning of the season probably didn’t help either.

  4. PJ feels more like someone who helps make a good team great and not someone who helps make a bad team good

Which I’m cool with, not every role player is gonna be system-proof floor raising guy. I just hope if we’re going into next season with the intention to win games that we get the PJ of years prior

  5. Pj on offense is rough. He was pretty dependent on Luka in my opinion for having advantages created for him.

I don’t like seeing PJ dribble… ever… unless it’s a dribble or two in a straight line attack on a close out.

  6. The difference is that PJ knows we’re tanking lol. He wasn’t this unserious last year when we were trying

  7. If he was tradable this year, he’d be number one on my list of guys that gotta go. Once we got Cooper, PJ’s days were numbered. I hope he lands in a spot where he can find his groove again this offseason.

  8. This small sample cherry picked bullshit doesn’t mean a thing. PJ is our 4th best player when everyone is healthy. The dude is a stud. Quit being so short sighted.

  9. Luka made players look better than they are. LeBron did the same thing. It’s not a knock on PJ, it just shows how good the aforementioned are at this game. PJ is a great player, he just doesn’t fit in this offense anymore.

  10. The biggest issue is that there is no structured offense. There is too much freedom in this offense and PJ having too much freedom on offense is not the best version of him. Someone like Naji excels cause he is a good ballhandler and can get his shot whenever he wants. But PJ’s handle, playmaking and decision making is not great.

Right now he is operating like he is back in his Hornets days. He is going back to his bad habits. Next season, if PJ is still here, he needs to go back to being limited to 3 point shooting, attacking closeouts, and the occasional post up against smaller players.

It also doesnt help that he appears to be going through some personal issues. Sometimes he just looks like he is not there mentally.

  11. PJ needs to play more of a Josh Hart role. Just bring effort and energy with low attempts

  12. I’ll give him a bit of a leeway due to his personal problem this season. He will be back mentally locked in next season with kai for sure.

  13. i brought this up when we lost to Philly in December. the casuals downvoted me to hell lmao. the data is crazy obvious & extremely consistent. you don’t even have to look at the data. it’s the eye-test & just being a normal person to see it. really sucks.

i think he could be a good-to-very-good player like he was before – just not on this team. i don’t feel bad for this sentiment anymore because bro got ***PAID***

  14. Hmm….it almost seems like everybody on this roster, besides Cooper Flagg, was designed for someone else. I don’t want to harp on it, but Dennis Lindsey, after many years, constructed the perfect team around Luka Doncic. Luka is a very difficult player to build around, because of his unique offensive skills and defensive liabilities. But, after their Finals run, they actually improved the team and set up a viable championship roster for a 3 year run…….and then Nico traded that all away…..for nothing. Now you are left with ill fitting parts and they are trying to ham fist it with an incredible talent like Cooper Flagg.

  15. Well I am not expecting anything from PJ this season or any of the experienced guys in the team. What I care about is only, Flagg, Christie, Nembhard, Klay’s happiness, unloading AD for draft capital and the tank. He will play well if we have a good team. We don’t have defined roles for them right now or maybe need a playmaker like Luka to be effective.

  16. PJ needs a guard / creator to feed him and for defences to play off him giving him open lanes or open 3’s. He’s relatively young still and has the tools most NBA teams want in a player. Let’s not forget he started the season really strong. I’ll reserve judgement on players until next season to be honest. This year should all be about getting a good pick in the draft and maybe trading some others to duck the tax and get more picks.

  17. watched him all through the mavs finals season and after, and he was great but recently I think the injuries and not having an elite point guard has gotten to him, hope he steps up more tho

  18. PJ seems like he has been forcing things quite a bit this season. I think Dallas needs better consistency for him to settle in again and play within his strengths. Inconsistent lineups due to coaching and injuries don’t help anyone settle in.
