The second baseman taking reps at second base? Shocking!
Would solve a lot of problems, but Im not holding my breath.
Man I’m rooting for him. I hate how quickly everyone turned on him (understandably). I hope he makes a 180 and takes his defense to another level. I think a good KC in the lineup makes this team a whole lot better
Woof. He was god awful over there. Maybe the “Duran to 2B” folks are right? /s
So, the price for Hoerner is too high?
“Among those who have been there since early January: Kristian Campbell, who is continuing the efforts to solidify the swing adjustments he started making toward the end of last year in Fort Myers and Puerto Rico. Campbell is doing defensive work at second base and in the outfield.”
Guess I’m missing the part where it says he’s been in Florida for months.
I think even scouts aren’t sure he’s ever gonna be anything but slightly below average defensively so I appreciate the work but for the love of all that is good we need people in the infield that can actually field.
this would be fucking amazing if it works and he can be, like, just bad defensively and not the worst in the league
Campbell is gonna be a great hitter, he just has to be able to play a position at the Major League level
Hopefully we acquire another infielder (Hoerner, Suarez, Paredes), and then Campbell can be the first backup up out of the minors if anyone gets hurt in either the infield or the outfield.
God I hope he bounces back. Dude has the truth within him
Everybody wants a finished product out of the gate. Give him time.
I don’t really understand why he didn’t spend the rest of the season at 2B in Worcester last year. I understand he’s more comfortable as an OF but what’s the long term plan here?
Burning, flaming lava, hot take: the kid is a young Ellis Burks.
I hope it works out
I think it makes sense to give him time in the minor leagues to learn second base. There will be far less pressure then trying to learn in the big league .
I had a dream last night that he got off to a torrid start and was getting all-star mentions.
Ok. I’ll let the coaches figure it out. I kind of see him as an outfielder though. We need a RH bat out there to replace the role played by Refsnyder. Duran’s .600 OPS against lefties and Abreu’s .589 OPS against lefties won’t cut it, so we need a righty out there to be a stabilizing force. So we’ll see what they do about it all.

I think the kid can do it. Fingers crossed.
