[Nightengale] Arraez rejected several multi-year offers from other teams in order to play second base. The Giants now have their infield set with their $12M commitment to Arraez.

  1. “I would like the opportunity to prove to everyone that I am truly defensively useless”

  2. Now we see why one of Buster’s first moves was bringing in Ron Washington to coach infield this year

  3. Devers was the Sox emergency second baseman for awhile, did the Giants ask him if he was willing to give it another shot first?

  4. the padres went after shortstops because of their athleticism

the mets went after second basemen, since they’re the next best thing

the giants saw this and said “oh shoot we’re doing one position now?”

  5. I don’t understand how Arraez can be viewed as a better 2nd baseman than Casey Schmidt.

  6. Here’s where people try to act like it’s bad that the giants managed to get the best bat to ball guy in the league for only 12 mil. The leather of the glove don’t pay the bills son it’s the wood of the bat

  7. Very dumb idea I’m kind of seriously suggesting – would Devers be better at 2B than Arraez? Like they’re both too slow and not rangy enough for the position, but Arraez has been very bad at 2B, generally worse than Devers was at third.

Again, terrible idea. But I do have to wonder.

  8. Saw someone in the Marlins subreddit ask if we should take him back and a ton of us said hell no cause of this lol.

  9. Maybe Ron Washington can fix him.

I’m not shitting on this move as much as other Giants fans are but getting a career .290 hitter in this day and age on a team that strikes out as much as the Giants isn’t a bad thing

  10. Career .317 hitter who led the league in hits the last two years, settling for $12m. Shows how much analytics has changed player analysis compared to say back when Juan Pierre was a free agent.

  11. can someone explain to me why people think hes a horrible defender? I see he only has 30 errors in 7 seasons. that doesnt seem outrageous. Im not denying it im just wondering why
