I would like 2-3 straight years of defense heavy drafts please
Great interview John, I think he will teach our young Commanders because he seems to be a student of the game. At least being a HomeTown kid he knows what this organization is about and needs. I always wanted a HomeTown coach let's hope it works… 🤞🏾
Are we going to get a presser with DQ and AP and the new hires?
Washington has a HUGE OPPORTUNITY with this draft…
Darone is switching the defense to a 3-4 defense…
Which makes prospects like Kayden McDonald Nose Tackle Ohio State and Dominique "Big Citrus " Orange 10x more valuable to the Commanders than they would be to 90% of other teams in the nfl…
Teams that play a 4-3 defense have almost ZERO NEED for guys like Kayden McDonald or Dominique Orange…
Meanwhile those guys would be THE MOST VALUABLE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS ON OUR TEAM!!!…
And we can get BOTH in this draft!!
Trade pick 7 back to pick 24 with the Cleveland Browns…
Along with Clevelands 2nd and 4th round picks…
This would give Cleveland pick 6 and 7 overall!!!…
Cleveland could select Left Tackle Francis Mauigoa Miami and Right Tackle Spencer Fano Utah with pick 6 and 7…
Giving Shaduer Sanders two all pro caliber bookend offensive tackles for the next 15 years!!!…
Washington could kick stsrt the talent in thier 3-4 defense with the selection of Kayden McDonald Nose Tackle Ohio State at pick 24…
With the 2nd round pick they picked up from Cleveland …
They can draft Emmanuel Pregnon Left Tackle Oregon…
With thisr 3rd round pick Elijah Sarratt WR Indiana…
"Big Citrus " Dominique Orange with the 6th pick in the 4th
Emmett Johnson Nebraska RB to provide THUNDER to Jacory's LIGHTNING… with thier 5th
Dominic Zvada Kicker Michigan with the 7th pick in the 6th round
D'Angelo Ponds CB Indiana with the extra 6th rounder Washington has
Best special teams coverage guy with thisr 7th
If Brian Johnson leaves he has a chance to work with one of the greatest offensive minds in football. I don't want him to leave but to go to the Super Bowl again is a tough decision Good luck Brian.
Need to start developing players. I can't say this enough. I get everyone blames the GM when pick's dont work out, but the job of position coaches is to improve players and incorporate them into the scheme. That hasnt been happening. Might have to start poaching some of these assistants from these teams like San Francisco and the Rams because they develop players for depth.
Jeeze we just ha e to get D alot of talent. Between existing holes, all the 1 yrs expiring &.offensive needs, They have alot to nail down this offseason.
I'll wait and see what happens on the field, this group…🙄
Couple of points:
– Need to start with our edge guys – first day in the building. Need to set an edge at all cost. Even if you have to widen out a couple yards. The ball cannot get outside if you.
– Payne, Kinlaw or Newton can absolutely be double digit sack guys and tons of TFL's if we play a 3/4 with a heavy nose and find a MLB who can punish a RB trying to step up and block (LB with Length). There will be plenty of 1on1 opportunities in both the run and pass for our D-line. For Payne, this has the chance to be his best year and scheme fit since being drafted.
Just watched a video – "Daronte Jones Mic'd Up at 2024 Senior Bowl Practice"… @4:23 in the video, he's yelling at guys to set the edge.. I'm already a fan of this coach
Walking to work down the street in downtown Richmond, I often think about a different type of stab drill.
Hope he brings: back to tackling basics 1on1, sorely needed.
