Hoerner is exactly what this team needs to challenge for an AL pennant. Unfortunately, Chicago is in the drivers seat with this one and is probably looking for a kings ransom.
I’d like Hoerner but I don’t think what it would take to get him is worth for 1 year. Maybe if the Cubs throw in a real prospect along, but I doubt they are willing to do that. The defense would be great with Ranger and Bello pitching and the contact and speed would be valuable offensively, but with only 1 arb year of control I wouldn’t be comfortable trading most of our top trading chips for. I just don’t see a match here.
Any baseball reason people don’t want Shaw
We don’t need Shaw as our 3rd reichman.
Matt Shaw would be so weird, if we want an unproven guy at 3rd please just give it to Marcelo. Nico Hoerner would be great if they don’t give up too much for a rental unless they plan to flip him mid season if we’re dogshit.
