He may have struggled to put together a good front office and coach staff together at times but is a genuinely great guy who cares about this team and it's fans. Unlike a lot of other owners who were busy on a certain island.

  1. They dropped 3 million files. I don’t think George is in the emails, but let’s wait a couple days before we take a victory lap, they’re literally revealing a new owner every few hours right now

  2. I have a friend who played baseball in the town that he refs. Says he’s a really nice guy for real. Good ref too, lol

  3. Is society so down that we literally need to make an appreciation post for someone NOT being on the Epstein files?

  4. Cares so much about the team that he is pushing to move them out of Chicago?

He is not your typical NFL Billionaire owner so he seems more down to earth to you compared to the others. I actually agree with you there however in the end his #1 goal is to maximize his families wealth at the expense of the fans.

  5. George has been great since he took over. Huge credit due for creating the president of football operations role to add a layer between ownership and the day to day operations of the team. It was when they became a modern and professional organization.

  6. I’ve seen George a half dozen times. Each and every time he was shaking hands and taking pics with fans. Great guy. Great family.

  7. I’ve really hated George at times, I’m definitely starting to come around on him. Fuck all the owners on the list.

  8. That video/gif of him celebrating I think the win over the Bengals will forever be etched into my mind. Now let’s go win the whole damn thing!

  9. I can’t believe this many people really think they’re moving to Indiana lol

  10. I’ve met him at a game before and he took time to chat with me and geek out about the team. Genuinely great fucking guy

  11. Last year y’all were crying for thr McCaskeys to sell.
We’ve come full circle now. 😆

  12. He may not be a bad dude, but not a great owner. Let see how it plays out.

A lot of this success may have to do with more luck than skill. I think the QB and coach combination are going to be fun to watch for the next several years. But there are still a lot of holes on the team.

Also, the organization has not been very good at the scouting and player development for a while, and they do not seem like they will spend on coaches and staff to really be competitive for years to come.

Honestly I think the family should sell and become a minority owner so one of these billionaire can come in and spend on them team. But it’s not my team, the family can basically do what they want.

  13. Yes, credit is definitely deserved.

Aside, whatever happened with the fallout with Olin? Did they ever patch that up?

  14. Yeah yeah, everyone loves him now. He’s been the same good guy for a decade now, but we collectively couldn’t see that because he did a bad job from a football perspective.

I have a lot of respect for him. He treats the people he works and interacts with, with a level of respect you practically never see. I will forever be a fan

  15. Keep in mind, he is still threatening to move the stadium to Gary unless the state and city give his family money. Millionaires asking for handouts

  16. I’ve always sad his love of the team and fans could never be questioned, and I do believe he always wanted to succeed. He’s just always been really bad at running a successful organization

Perhaps he wasn’t as bad as we thought though, they have made some different decisions with Virginia no longer the “true” owner and it being George’s team. Like going out and spending the big money to hire Ben Johnson – the hot candidate is something they were not doing with Virginia in charge

A massive upgrade was finally getting Ted Phillips out of there and bringing in Kevin Warren. Warren may not be the best team president but he’s at least a football lifer and even at a 5 or 6/10 rated football mind is going to make much better choices than the team accountant and family friend Phillips who was a 1 or 2/10 team president

  17. In my very limited interaction with him and his wife, they were wonderful people and definitely loved chatting about the team.

  18. I blame it more on the accountant, sweaty Teddy. Bears fortunes changed once he left the building.

  19. I know people were wanting them to sell in recent years, but I actually think they’re decent owners. They seem to actually be pretty good people and want to treat people well. Those things can’t be said for a lot of owners.

I’ve long chalked up the Bears turnaround to the retirement of Ted Phillips. I think the mistake the McCaskeys made was keeping him around for so long _because_ they’re good people.

  20. Jesus Christ *no.*

This shit is so embarrassing, I have no idea why it’s Chicago sports fans that tend to have this issue of boot licking owners.

He failed upward, we are succeeding entirely in spite of his decisions.
