[Highlight] Jacob Young makes an incredible juggling catch, and robs a game-tying home run in the 9th inning of that same game

  1. Nice catches but I doubt the second one was a HR unless it bounced off his glove again.

  2. Watching Jacob Young play defense has been one of the few bright spots of the past few years of Nationals baseball

  3. As a baseball fan, one of my pet peeves is when announcers say an outfielder robbed a home run, but replays show that the ball would simply have bounced off the top of the wall, based on a reasonable interpretation of the ball’s trajectory. I understand getting caught up in the moment, but come on.

That said, these were great catches.

  4. This series against the Nats was the end for the Mets.

Soto had the game tying hit in the bottom of the 9th inning of the game before this. Mets had bases loaded, one out. Nimmo and Marte both strikeout.

Nats took the lead in the 11th on an inside the park home run on a fly ball to CF that was badly misplayed by Mullins.

The next game, Young makes these two game saving plays. The 9th inning catch in CF was exactly the catch that Mullins was unable to read and make the game before.

  5. Seeing the Mets fans reactions on the broadcast was something else. This was the moment where their season died.

  6. This was the game I knew for sure the season was cursed.

With modest luck regression alone they should win 3-4 more games. The Athletic had an article saying that the Mets advanced analytics expected wins had them as an 88 win team last year (yes it’s all bullshit, but you see like this happening to balls that are absolutely smoked and you need to cope!)

  7. If you look closely, you can find me in the stands coming to the realization that God didn’t want the Mets to make the playoffs last year.

  8. Yay a positive Nats post. They’re few and far between these days. Hackey sack catch was one of the craziest I’ve ever seen

  9. A coworker of mine was watching this game, and all of a sudden he chucked his phone at a wall.

  10. Yes yes please post this and up his trade value so another team has to deal with his terrible bat

  11. yeah that game was the end, even though we were in it until the last game. that was just completely demoralizing. i need to never see Jacob Young in center field ever again

  12. I was at that game sitting in the first section in left field I saw this real time and I couldn’t believe my eyes

  13. This was the moment I knew for 100% sure this wasn’t our year, cause what the hell is this

Keep in mind, Mets missed the playoffs by a game. Either or both of these go their way and who knows what happens

Frick you, OP. I hope your cereal is soggy. 😤

  15. One of my favorite underrated players in baseball. Elite CF defender with a ton of contact and speed. He way underperformed his underlying offensive numbers in 2025, but he’s such a good defender and baserunner that literally any offense he gives you is just gravy.

  16. This is how I saw myself as a seven year old.

Tried this defensive maneuver when I was ten and got benched for the season.
