Even though you're terrible with names, I'll miss you, buddy.

Wonder if Daniella steps in there full time for him. She was pretty decent when she did stuff in the past and works with Ken Kal a bunch already.
“Paul Woods, who has provided analysis for Detroit Red Wings radio broadcasts for 40 years, said on Saturday that he is retiring at the end of the season.
Woods, 70, said he wants to spend more time at home and with his four grandchildren.
‘It’s time. It’s been 40 years,’ Woods said. ‘I have family things I want to do. I’ve got grandkids, and I want to be able to spend more time with them.’
Woods is the longest-serving radio analyst in Detroit sports broadcasting history. He worked his 3,000th Red Wings game on Oct. 17, 2022.
Woods began working Red Wings broadcasts with play-by-play voice Bruce Martyn in 1985, immediately after his playing career ended. He has been working alongside play-by-play voice Ken Kal since the 1996-97 season.
Woods played seven NHL seasons, all with the Red Wings, from 1977-78 to 1983-84, collecting 72 goals and 124 assists. He served as team captain during the 1978-79 season.
‘I’ll never forget as a little boy running to get the (Toronto) Globe & Mail, so I could read the box scores of NHL games. That was back when there were only six teams. Then I made it to the NHL. I always felt like I was the lucky one.’
The native of Hespeler, Ontario, ended his playing career with the AHL Adirondack Red Wings in 1984-85”
no, no? don’t, am i this old, I’m not this old please don’t
Aw man this stings. I remember listening to the Wings on the radio as a kid, hearing his voice takes me back to a much simpler time. Reading this headline hit me like the news of the Joe being demolished. Damn, time is relentless.
Dude is great.
Even though I’m rarely in the car when a game is going on, it was always nice to listen to Ken and Paul once in a while. Pretty decent player in his day and a hell of a long career in radio. A well-deserved retirement!
Half of the time when the Wings are on network, I skip watching em and just listen to Ken and Paul. He’ll definitely be missed.
A legend. Grew up listening to Ken Kal and Paul Woods as a Canadian with limited tv options
Shift Osgood to the radio team.
Paul uh Woods is uh retiring uh eh there uh Ken?
He and Ken are the only voices of DRW radio I’ve ever known. This will be so strange to not hear him next to Ken
He has such a cool delivery. He sums up a play in a quick, concise manner.
His voice is great, going to miss it
Absolute legend, one of the great voices of Red Wings hockey. The man will be missed, for sure!
Horrible news. He’s earned it, but it’s our loss.
Started listening to the radio broadcasts when I couldn’t watch them at work in 2013 or so. Things will definitely be different, happy retirement to Paul! And will be exciting to see who he passes the torch off to
He just did announce his retirement.
I absolutely am devastated by this. Ken and Paul are Red Wings Hockey to me…
He’s done a great job for us.
I think Larry Murphy might do a good job if he’s available and interested.
I’ll miss him, always thought he did a great job
If I’ve ever listened to a red wings games without him, I don’t remember it. Yeah, this hurts.
Paul Woods and the late Jim Price are like the grandpas I never had.
Congrats to Paul on such a long career and I’m happy he’s getting to retire and spend time with his grandkids.
But man this one hurts. I remember sneaking a radio to my room to listen Ken and Paul call the west coast games that were on after my bedtime growing up. I’m really going to miss him
🙁
TIL that Paul Woods looks like an absolute king (the good kind)
