  1. The Warriors also told jp he was definitely a part of the future before shipping him out for cp3

  2. If this is true, then I really don’t understand this team and it’s Direction. If they do little to nothing at the deadline, I would have no trust In this organization.

  3. Frankly, I think this is more that the contract is untradable right now. But I wouldn’t be completely surprised if ownership is meddling with basketball decisions again

  4. They’re going to stick by him even after the Giannis trade to help him recover… is what this means.

  5. I’m assuming this means nobody is interested in trading for his contract? It would be moronic otherwise

  6. Honestly didn’t say much

    > The night after Butler got injured last month, ***Dunleavy answered questions from the media and noted that he didn’t “envision” moving Butler’s contract as part of any potential deal. He hoped that Butler would be able to return around the same time next season and give the Warriors a similar kind of boost as he did last February.***

    > Before his injury, Butler repeatedly talked about how much he enjoyed the Warriors’ culture and playing alongside Curry and Draymond Green. For a player who has bounced around the league and been a part of a lot of drama along the way, Butler seemed unusually settled in his first year with the Warriors.

    > The question for Dunleavy and the front office becomes: Are they willing to stick with Butler throughout a lengthy rehab or use him as a contract match to help smoothly get an Antetokounmpo deal over the finish line?

    > ***Even in recent days, one league source said the Warriors have made it clear to Butler that they are going to stick by him as he begins a year-long rehab. But actions, as always, will speak louder than words — especially if the Bucks are motivated to move Antetokounmpo before the deadline and the Warriors are steadfast in not including Butler as part of a package.***

    > In the short term, the spotlight will once again be on Dunleavy to maneuver around any obstacles. As usual, it doesn’t seem as if the pressure of the circumstances is getting to him. Instead of being huddled up in his office with the rest of his staff, Dunleavy spent part of last week down in New Zealand on a scouting trip with assistant general manager Larry Harris.

  7. Can Draymond go punch him? Then we can ship them both out. J/k but not going all in a small window is just half assing it

  8. Ah yes, very smart move.

Trade 4 guys and all your picks to get Giannis.

You then are unable to build a championship team around Steph and Giannis due to cap space and lack of picks to make trades.

Giannis then proceeds to leave GS for the same reasons he left the Bucks.

  9. So basically, you’re betting that Giannis is fine extending here with only a year or two of Curry left, no draft picks to rebuild, and no other decent players on the roster to play or trade? Let’s be honest Jimmy has played his last game.

  10. Good because if a trade is for someone like Giannis who could be our defensive anchor, we’d be better off (once Jimmy returns) moving Draymond than Jimmy.

  11. Then why trade for Giannis now instead of just waiting for the offseason lmao

If they’re afraid Giannis goes to a diff team, almost all the sources have said GSW is the only one giving the most legit offers right now, and everyone else’s offers are leagues behind. Bucks probably don’t pull on anything if it isn’t GSW.

  12. What about his Butler’s 54M this year and projected 58 M next year.

    Jimmy Butler 58 M+, Gianiss 58M + Steph 62 M =178 Million

Luxury salary cap is 187.895 M

Already GSW are tax payers with:
    $207,096,665 ($19,201,665), $81,288,739 penalty over salary cap floor of 139 M

  13. Article is just saying a league source says that they plan to keep Jimmy.

My guess is that they would trade Jimmy got Giannis, but not going to trade away Jimmy for anyone else just to get rid of him because he’s injured.

  14. Team in background: “We talked to every team in the league, tried to shop Jimmy and nobody wanted him and his large contract.”

Team publicly: “We’re going to hold onto Jimmy! We LOVE Jimmy!!!”

  15. Listen I love Jimmy Butler, like he’s a top 5 favorite player of mine, but we really need to be in win now mode. Whatever it takes.
