GREAT News For Bears Around Trey Hendrickson + Braxton Jones Returning in ’26 Brews & More

The Chicago Bears are getting major clarity on their future roster construction as contract projections, injury updates, and internal free-agent priorities begin to come into focus ahead of the 2026 season. Several key developments could shape how aggressive Chicago becomes this offseason, especially in the trenches and the secondary.

The biggest financial revelation centers around EDGE Trey Hendrickson, who is now projected to command just a 1-year, $21 million deal according to league expectations. That number is massive news for the Bears. Hendrickson remains one of the NFL’s most productive pass rushers, consistently ranking near the top of the league in pressures, quarterback hits, and sacks when healthy. His ability to win with speed, leverage, and relentless motor makes him an ideal fit for a defense that prioritizes disruption up front. A short-term deal at that price point allows Chicago to add elite edge production without sacrificing long-term cap flexibility or future draft capital.

On the offensive line, the Bears may be forced to lean on experience sooner than expected. Braxton Jones is trending toward a return to Chicago after reports indicate Ozzy Trapilo’s injury is significantly more serious than originally believed. Jones has been a stabilizing presence at tackle, offering reliability in pass protection and improved run blocking as his career has progressed. His familiarity with the offense, quarterback tendencies, and line communication could prove critical if Trapilo is unavailable for an extended period. Bringing Jones back also provides valuable depth and insurance along an offensive line that dealt with multiple injuries last season.

In the secondary, Chicago appears motivated to maintain continuity. The Bears have been linked to re-signing defensive back Nahshon Wright, who quietly put together a strong season and emerged as one of the most dependable coverage options on the roster. Wright’s length, physicality, and improved ball skills showed up throughout the year, as he consistently limited explosive plays, challenged receivers at the catch point, and contributed in run support. His development aligns perfectly with Chicago’s emphasis on versatile defensive backs who can thrive in multiple coverage schemes.

Re-signing Wright would solidify depth in the defensive backfield while rewarding internal development — a trend the Bears have increasingly prioritized. Combined with potential additions up front and stability on the offensive line, these moves suggest Chicago is aiming for smart, calculated growth rather than flashy overspending.

With contract projections becoming clearer and roster decisions accelerating, the Bears are positioning themselves to strike at the right time. Whether it’s adding proven pass rush help, reinforcing the offensive line, or locking in ascending defensive talent, Chicago’s offseason blueprint is beginning to take shape.

  2. I think we definitely should get Trey Hendrickson but no way is he taking a one year deal for $21 million. I think the bottom would be 25 mil for two years with mostly guaranteed money.

  3. STOP NOT Hendrickson he was injured last year. Hip injury isn't good for Ezdge Rusher. That's necessary the same for him. Bring back Khalil Mack for 12 to 14 million. I don't want Wright back either. Bring back CCJGJ, Byard not Wright.
