According to the Athletics Falcons reporter Josh Kendall, the Falcons are expected to move on from Big Kirko Chains before march 13th so he is not owed 68M. This will significantly clear cap so we can resign guys like Eliss, but signifies the need for a bridge QB. Overall when this happens, this will be a good move.

I know this has been discussed to death but why on earth we paid him that much only to then draft a qb in the first round is truly mind boggling.
Coming in with the breaking news from 2 days ago.
This has been talked about this past week but the restructure should have made it crystal clear. There’s is and was no way we give him the guaranteed money he’s due in March.
Very solid move.
Who we going after figuring that penix won’t be ready for week 1? At least not filly healthy. Never is. Sadly.
Such a disastrous deal, and I was pretty mad about the whole not telling us about his injury or whatever last season but I will miss him
Minnesota could do a really funny thing
Kirk Cutsins
The problem with the Cousins contract was the length. A 2 year deal would have been ok, IMO. I would also understand the Penix draft better had that been the case. But, here we are. Time to move on!
Yes we know loll. You guys are posting it every 5 seconds.

Jimmy G, c’mon down, you’re the next ~~contestant on the Price is Right~~ vet backup QB for the Atlanta Falcons
Bridge QB? Like who?
Shocked I tell you, can’t wait to move on from this.
“Signifies the need for a bridge QB”
I feel like people keep forgetting that Arthur Blank himself said MPJ is the guy going forward until proven otherwise.
Bye Bitch
I mean, yeah

It’s a 2008 re do this year. We are getting Joe Flacco to back up Penix and hold it down. He’s shown he can not lose you games. Just competent enough to hold down the fort.
They’ll try to resign him on a friendler contract
Bu$ine$$
Why did Cousins hide his injury? Given his contract and those first 8 starts, losing his spot should have never crossed his mind. But it clearly did. As if they were looking for an excuse to bench him and his performance through the rest of the season finally gave it to them.
Did Penix show enough to be named starter in Year 2 with “no possibility of Cousins competing”? Not even close. A healthy Cousins was still the better quarterback. So at that point it became a question of whether Cousins was “right” to be worried all along or if continuing to play through injury is what ultimately cost him.
Overpaying Cousins and reaching for Penix wasn’t a reason to clean house. Two 8-9 seasons wasn’t a reason to clean house. But at this point? I have no idea how good Cousins still is or how good Penix might be in the future because they blew up their own plan, used questionable decisions to make bad decisions and bad decisions to make worse decisions. And that was more than enough reason to clean house.
And he’s going where? Who’s going to give him starter money?
The way I see it after getting cut he’s coming back here. Better to be a backup here than on another team. Specially when he’s likely to be QB1 for the first few weeks anyway.
Oh no darn
Our best option is Joe Flacco. If we can’t get him I fully expect them to look to Carson Wentz if they want an old backup or Trey Lance if they want some to come out for the job, because the league still believes in him for some reason.
lol, duh
