  1. Trading the team away and keeping mathews is loss. We lose if we trade him. If we keep him and wait till he's 30 something. We lose his value goes down and while the team is losing during the rebuild. WE HAVE TO TRADE HIM YESTERDAY. :))

  2. Matthews should not be kept for a rebuilt. These days he's a 6-8m dollar player paid 13.5m per year for the next few years. You're not getting hosed trading that away unless you're getting back 13.5m worth of contracts locked in for the next few years that also play to a 6-8m value. If you're rebuilding, you don't want that kind of dead weight on the books, because those will someday be young players you can't keep because they need new contracts that you don't have the space for.

  3. Carlo feels like he makes sense on San Jose. Think about it. Not one defenceman is locked up for them. Carlo is signed through next season. They have a weak right side. Carlo is a righty. The Sharks don't have a legit stay at home defenceman, they are mostly offense or puck movers. Carlo is that guy. He's also a big dude who throws hits. He's perfect for the sharks.

Roy makes sense on The Ducks. Domi to The Islanders also makes a lot of sense. Dubas would probably take Robertson for the Pens. Joshua and Benoit to the Preds would make some sense. McMann and Stecher to The Oilers. Jarnkrok to the Pens also makes sense because he's a Dubas guy. Lorentz and Laughton I think we should keep but together as a penalty killing package would make some sense. Maccelli and OEL as a package to The Bruins for the 2026 Pick back and The bruins 1st also would make sense. Stolarz to Montreal I could see also.

  4. Until the Leafs team philosophy on hiring a Free Agent over developing a player at the NHL level, so when that changes, I’m not holding my breath, they are not likely to ever do that. Their prospects are looked at as call ups due to injuries, then the veteran FA signing who does bupkiss, means we trade guys who never got a fair shake in the bigs, that’s not development, that’s stupidity!

  5. If you trade Roy, what do they expect to get in return? Just picks and some plug? As a Leafs fan myself, I don't want to see trades to get a speculative pick. That does little overall unless it is a first-round pick. To get the required pieces, they have to give up pieces, and trading pieces doesn't work. They need to build chemistry within the team, which is not there. Mathews is not a captain. That should never have happened. He needs the pressure off of him. Tavares was a great deal; we need more of those. Riley needs to be traded while he still has value, and we can get value back from him. He is getting older as well. People have to remember winning the Stanley Cup is the hardest professional sports title to win. You never 4 lines of quality players, a hot goalie, minimal injuries, tough D, tough players and a bunch of luck.

  6. Wanna fix the leafs? Ban all media coverage in Toronto. That’s the main issue with this team. They could go 81-1-0 and the media would be talking about how terrible they are for losing one game. Good luck leafs, your superstars don’t want to be there nor should they.

  7. Leaf fans last Spring "Trade Marner we don't need you! We can replace you! We need someone who will play well in the Playoffs!" Leaf fans this spring "Get outta here you bums! We don't need you! Who needs Playoffs anyways!"

  8. Burn it all down and let's rebuild from the ashes. We need to be honest with ourselves that this group doesn't have it, and isn't particularly close to having it. Many steps back are needed before we can move forward.

  9. “You’re gonna get crushed on that Mathews trade”. Spoiler Alert, Mathews ain’t re-upping at the end of next season pal. He wants out of Moronto, and back home Anywhere south of the border.

  10. Moving out 34, 44, and 88 in my opinion, would "improve" the LOCKER ROOM CULTURE, and enable the team to be a future Stanley Cup contender, with the CORRECT impactful player acquisitions?

  11. Until they bring in a new Hockey President who knows hockey, the new President's hand picked GM, and the Prez&GM's hand picked new HC…

    Nothing will change.

Other than the talking heads and fans.

And since that would cost new money and waste old money, it's unlikely they will make any upper management changes.

  12. Leafs record Since 2016-17

    365-193-76 (.636 Pts %)

    Without Matthews 38-19-2 (.661 %)

    Without Marner 20-17-5 (.536 %)

    Without Nylander 25-10-2 (.703 %)

    Without Tavares 11-2-2 (.800%)

    Without Rielly 41-17-5 (.690 %)

  13. In the playoffs, you need your best guys to be your best guys. Matthews, for all his talent, isn't that guy. Cannot continue to build around him. It's over. Burned it down to the studs and rebuild (with some actual studs this time).

  14. The 2026 version of this channel is so fun to watch with these 3 talking heads finally accepting they cheer for the shittiest team and knowing it’s all falling apart 🙂
Another 20 years of trash, buckle up leaf fans 😅

  15. Obviously time to sell….and everybody should be on the table….and looks like a new GM and new coach are also needed…..forget about the playoffs if by miracle they might pull off some incredible run….they will just lose any round any way…this team has no heart, simply implode on themselves…..

Maybe this will seem crazy, but what about a three way trade with the Leafs, Devils & Wild….Stolarz, Reilly, Matthews to Wild for Wallstedt and Quinn Hughes (UFA in 26-27)…..trade Woll, Domi, McCann, Carlo , Nylander, Knies to Devils for Markstrom, plus Luke & Jack Hughes….this might make sense to Devils as Domi, McCann, Nylander, Knies played for Sheldon Keefe…..reunites Hughes brothers….frees up some cap space for Leafs….Markstrom & Wallstedt would make a great 1A and 1B Swedish tandem….Hidebey is 3rd string and takes over from Markstrom eventually….complete remake of Leafs…..not a full rebuild but more than just retool…..then if really want to get crazy sign Jason Robertson as free agent (teaming up on Leafs with brother Nick)…..obviously we would need Leafs to think completely outside the box (as I have) to do so…..a new coach and new GM plus new blood….new chemistry…..

  16. please do an inventory of how many players have entered this organization to help this core group and all have failed. how many coaches how many gms etc. Issue is with core trade Nylander trade Morgan really and if you can get a true number one defence man plus more for Matthews do it. Doing the same thing over and over and failing is the true definition of insanity. Leafs fan since 1970

    Fan sine 1970

  17. Wallstedt and Riley Heidt for Matthews and Woll. Yeah Matthews ain't much of a leader and is injury prone, but he's still one of the few guys I'd be willing to give up Wallstedt for. I'm willing to bet he'd do just fine playing with Kaprizov.

  18. Our window is done. Our prospect pool is depleted and we don't even have a first rounder until 2028. We're in the worst of both worlds…a bad present and no future. Giving away all those prospects and picks when we went for it all those years ( to win a total of two rounds) has put us in a deep hole that will take us years to get out of. We 'll be lucky if we're competitive again by 2032.

  19. The whole "McDavid went through a bunch of coaches" argument doesn't really work with Matthews. McDavid has had an objectively worse supporting cast year in and year out and still regularly made the 2nd or 3rd round even with the coaches they ended up firing. The only time McDavid HASN'T been a PPG+ playoff player was in his first playoff year. Meanwhile, Matthews hasn't been PPG in the last two playoffs and has only been PPG three times out of his 9 postseasons.

Matthews has been in more playoffs, with objectively better teammates (overall, I mean Draisaitl is easily better than any Leafs player), and has consistently had worse performances than McDavid. People asking "How many coaches are the Leafs going to go through before they realize Matthews is the problem" is so fair and answering it by saying "Not as many coaches as McDavid had" is just frankly a dumb non-answer. And listen, I'm not saying Matthews is the only issue, but he's certainly a big one.

  20. 4:13 you could say you are not going to go, but if there is no fans, it looks bad very bad, and the ownership could say, let’s move somewhere else where we will succeed like Hustion or Quebec. I understand it may poke some leaf fans, but at the end of the day, your servicing.

  21. Not really complicated to me. Good teams miss the playoffs sometimes. We have 2 elite forwards, 2 really good forwards. We have 2-3 goalies. We have a few decent dmen – our best one being injured. This year was bad from the start with the absences injuries poor coaching and poor play. Fire the coach, fire the gm, sell what we can and retool for next year.
