Millions of commuters move through Grand Central every year, but most don’t know about the tennis court on the fourth floor.
The Vanderbilt Tennis Club was established in 2010, but the space it is in has been used since 1934.
Grand Central was opened in 1913, and the fourth floor space was first moved into in 1934 by the CBS Television Studios.
Iconic shows like What’s My Line and See It Now were filmed in that space.

However, CBS moved out in 1964, making room for the first tennis club to move in.
In 1965, Hungarian Olympic coach Geza Gazdag pulled together $100,000 to renovate the CBS spaces into a 65-foot ski slope and tennis courts.
He was bought out of his lease after just over a decade, and the courts cycled through owners until 1984.
That year, Donald Trump took over the club and he owned it for over 20 years.
Trump’s lease was terminated in 2009, and Anthony Scolnick took over the courts.
Scolnick is a former athletic director at Hunter College and owns two other tennis clubs.

The lease is a massive cost at $250,000 per year.
Scolnick likely isn’t having too much trouble covering that cost though, as it costs around $100 per hour to rent the courts, and that is during off-peak hours.
Still, it is a beloved location for a select few New Yorkers who know how to find it.
“I play at Vanderbilt every time I’m in the city — I love this court,” one player said on X.
“It’s the best tennis court in Manhattan,” another New Yorker said.
“I used to go late night after work. Insanely fast court!” a third said.
