Kevin Stefanski GAMBLES Atlanta Falcons’ Future on Coaches From NFL’s WORST Offenses | EDGE Review

Atlanta Falcons double down on risky play-caller hires as skepticism grows—will a talent-heavy roster finally be enough to win? Host Aaron Freeman questions the hype around new coaching additions like Tanner Engstrand and Alex Van Pelt, examining their lackluster offensive track records with the New York Jets and New England Patriots. While the Falcons tout increased play-calling experience, Freeman wonders if assembling coaches from NFL bottom-tier offenses can power Atlanta past mediocrity.

Shifting to the field, standout rookies James Pearce and Jalon Walker headline the Falcons’ emerging edge rusher corps. Freeman spotlights Pearce’s late-season breakout and Walker’s versatility, but cautions against assuming linear improvement—especially as regression looms following a franchise-record 57 sacks. With pending free agents Arnold Ebiketie and Leonard Floyd, can Atlanta’s pass rush maintain its edge, or is roster depth and future development still a concern?

  1. Aaron you’re pessimistic about everything and that’s ok, can’t have rose colored glasses. Next episode let’s cherry pick some positives the same way though 😂. I remember you not being impressed with Jeff a year ago. I’m not sure about the hires either and EVERYONE certainly isn’t hyping the hires that’s hyperbolic but my goodness man.

  2. Thank you for telling the truth. Falcons have assembled an offensive staff of the biggest losers in the league 😂 why should we be excited about these moves?

  3. my thoughts are that we're getting people who were trusted/good enough at their specific job to be trusted as an OC, so i think it'll be great

  4. 5:15 he said feed Bijan feed Drake feed Pitts, Zach Robinson checked all those boxes… did he? I mean in a sense yes we had games when Drake shined and other games when Pitts shined and a lot of Bijan games but I can not legitimately remember a game with Z-rob calling plays that all 3 of them had a good game. He spammed Bijan and the games he couldn’t he spammed either Drake or Pitts. I wanted to see them all utilized in a way that kept the defense guessing instead of the “here is what we are going to do try to stop us” moto we have been doing

  5. Cmon Aaron. Justin Fields can’t read defenses as a passer to get to a checkdown for Breece. Justin Fields football iq is one of the lowest in the entire nfl but he’s a good kid and he’s talented so teams will keep him around.

Engstram cant run the spread option in the nfl and survive without an elite defense ala Pittsburgh. The Jets were 31st.

We need to go the boring route of hiring veteran coaches as we get younger across the roster. Every staff needs coaches who know what their individual role requires of them at a high level. Everyone isn’t calling plays but having knowledgeable staff members is important.

  6. Hiring a couple guys from the worst two teams in the league does absolutely nothing to inspire me. And the fact that everyone sticks up for Kevin's record as a coach is a joke

  7. If twitter didn’t exist you would be homeless, you scroll your timeline and come on and talk about what you seen people talk about, you aren’t in the building, you don’t go to games or practice, you pay $15 for NFL Pro and read tweets and make a podcast about it

  8. Don't throw the football against the Falcons run lol I think logically this is will come back down to us just a little bit. With all the problems we have on the offensive side with football I think we probably go just be 7 and 10

  9. Aaron all of the people he brought in were great in support positions for their OC’s in previous jobs before they were made OC.

That’s all he hired them for. He has his OC in Rees and he himself is the backup to that. He brought in the best QB coach, the best Passing game coordinator, etc. That’s it..

Don’t jump into negativity until you have to

Just go with some positivity for a bit.. you are putting too much into it.

  10. 1 year ago, Aaron Freeman made a video in which he called Jeff Ulbrich brick the most boring hire the Falcons could have made. He pointed out all of his failures as the interim head coach with the New York Jets. One year later, we were talking about how much this defense has improved, and how glad we are that the new head coach elected to keep that same " boring " defensive coordinator. The point is that just because someone had a bad stent in one place doesn't always mean they are bad coaches or players. Look at Sam Donald! Let's just reserve judgment until we actually see how this all works together.

  11. Honestly i like the hires, but i can understand Arrons criticism with bringing in a staff offensively that wasn’t successful at there previous job, and may not have tons of experience. Especially with how sour the last 4 years have been. We’ll just have to see and wait with what happens as the season progresses.

  12. Engstrand was the PGC for the lions his job is to put in working passing calls into the offensive game plan which was successful. The lions have goff, st brown, gibbs, laporta, and jamo. wtf does the jets have to repeat that same success with?
