What’s surprised Al Horford most about Celtics’ ‘impressive’ season
February 3, 2026
“No he isn’t surprised that the Celtics exceeded expectations…”
So why’d he leave? Lol

I’m getting real sick of C’s “fans” giving Al shit for leaving. Leave the beautiful man alone for fuck sake
Expectations outside of the teams fans were bottom 10. There’s a difference between exceeding expectations (being a borderline play-in game team) and being better than anyone realistically thought was possible.

Look at how better we’ve played without him hogging the spotlight
Pay wall
Because he’s Al Horford.
Miss that dude, glad he’s doing what he wants on his terms
If wouldn’t be an Al Horford presser or article without talking about guys being in a certain “posission” 🤣🤣😭
Just pretend for a minute you are in their shoes. You won a championship. You got paid. You’re at the end of your career. Sometimes you just rather live in California than Boston. Plus, when you sign a team friendly deal at the end of your career you may get traded anyway, the man was a key piece on a championship team, he probably feels he’s done his part and wants to do something new.
He left for the same reason as Kornet, Pingus and Holiday … Nobodies paying 250M in penalties for a team that didn’t win
If he somehow manage to comeback, I won’t be surprised that he’d have nimble legs again.
No offense but that’s stupid, he obviously said no way they can compete and how we will likely go further than warriors
Al is a Celtics legend. I’m sure a part of him wishes he had stayed but he the C’s weren’t able to offer the contract GS did. Can’t blame him, and I doubt he was sure the C’s would stay one of the top teams in the east even if he isn’t surprised they are. All is good! Celtics shed a ton of salary in the offseason and I think improved the team while doing so. Both short term and long term.
