For those who are uninformed…every year Tampa has an event known as Gasparilla. The town is "invaded" by pirates. There's a parade and celebrations throughout the week. This is that week. Think of it similar to Mardi Gras but with boats. Plus the obvious tie in to the Buccaneers whose stadium they're playing in. Hence the pirate themeing.
Every Pittsburgh Pirates fan wept a little after watching this video.

This is the most florida thing I've ever seen and I love it.
The theming added Aura to this outdoor game. The NHL needs to keep doing things like this to their outdoor games.
Quite possibly the greatest intro in the history of sports. The theatrics, the lighting, the special EFX, the costumes – this was James Cameron, Steve Spielberg and Christopher Nolan producing a hockey game on a random Sunday night in February. The sound, the camera work, the smoke – all played in to such great drama – and what a game! Theatrics in sports, in 2026, is something we need to see more. Just wonderful fun.
