Some quotes:

"Even so, the Celtics will aim to fortify their frontcourt further before Thursday’s trade deadline, according to league sources."

"In any trade for significant salary, the Celtics would be likely to part ways with Anfernee Simons, according to league sources. That wouldn’t be an easy loss for the team to stomach, as he has acclimated himself well in Boston. Based on all indications, the Celtics have appreciated Simons’ approach this season. "

"The team is exploring paths to swap Simons and potentially draft capital for a big man, according to league sources."

"Though the Celtics made some big offseason moves to shed salary, they will not aggressively look to get under the luxury tax threshold at the deadline, according to league sources."

"Considering how minimal a role Boucher has played in Boston, he could be the player most likely to be moved before the deadline, according to league sources. If the Celtics do trade him, they could potentially sign another big man to replace him."

  1. I feel we need bench scoring more than a big name big, if we can get a cheap big that can atleast be a good backup for queta I don’t see a need for trading Simons

  2. Listen to jay king and the other c’s reporters if you don’t want to listen to me tax people

    Not a priority

  3. I honestly like what our C rotation looks like and feel like Simons has been insanely valuable as a shot creator. The issue is he’s only 26, and I feel like he’s rehabbed his rep a bit and may look for a bigger role and more money than what the Celtics can offer.

  4. Isn’t Boucher a big? Why aren’t we just using him? If he plays good we are all set or his trade value goes up, not sure why he’s not getting more time right now.

  5. Dont trade Simons. Teams are asking too much. Package Boucher for a big body that can rebound. Maybe throw in a second. The team is overachieving. Dont wreck a good thing.

  6. Keeping Simons is cool. I just don’t get why there haven’t also been extension rumblings.

In this upcoming draft we’re slated to have a late 1st round pick and 2 pretty early 2nd round picks. If we want to trade some of that late round fodder for a swing at upgrading center, I’m cool with that. But no reason to overreact until we see how our current centers perform in the playoffs.

Maybe my 2 thoughts here are connected. Maybe we aren’t going to pay for a 6th man before we know whether or not we’d want to use the full MLE on a big this offseason. Typically, it’s easier to find a bench scorer late in the draft than it is to find a big who’s versatile enough to consistently stay on the floor in the playoffs.

  7. People in this sub unironically think a center duo of Queta and Garza is good enough for the playoffs.

  8. If Celtics are dangling Simon’s and picks for a big then that likely means Tatum is coming back.

Otherwise it doesn’t make sense to jettison your scoring help. Unless you think Tatum is coming back and then Pritchard will slot back to his sixth man role.

Either that or Brad is thinking with next years needs in mind with Tatum back even if it puts us back this year.

  9. only way i’m trading simons is if we’re getting a starter quality, mobile big who can play the 4 beside garza if needed. so anything less than claxton or onyeka okongwu, i’d rather keep simons. there’s enough serviceable options that can be gotten without using simons or hauser while just using the tpe, josh/boucher/tillman and 1-2 2nds:

sharpe, nick richards, missi, isaiah jackson, marvin bagley, maxime raynaud, jalen smith, goga bitadze, andre drummond, dylan cardwell, etc.

  10. if the Celtics are looking to add a big, and using Simons’ money to do so, then I imagine they would also probably would need to add a backup guard to come off the bench to keep some of the scoring punch from the perimeter that was lost from trading Simons

  11. If we trade Boucher can we please play Minott more? Thing is, if Minott plays, who sits?

  13. Ughhh not Simon’s. The guys been amazing for us as a spark offensively. His defense has been above average. He’s also been a willing passer. This really sucks and I think it’s a mistake to trade him
