Man I remember that moment was some mixed feelings for me because I had just switched teams from the Angels to the Sox after the 04 season.
Anyway, I maintain that former Sox catcher Josh Paul was a sleeper agent and made that play happen for us to win.
I was at that game sitting in the upper deck by the right field foul pole. All I know is when I saw AJ start running to first I bought into it and started cheering my ass off
That was a great video. When I noticed his face over Scioscia’s face lol
Regardless, the catcher should have tagged AJ instead of jumping the gun to get the call and flipping the ball to the mound.
I was at the game. That play made AJ a hero in Chicago and he deserved it. But it also showed that MLB umpires love to just stand there and wait to make calls.
We Sox fans might’ve gotten away with one here. Maybe.
how crazy serendipitous was it that both Tony Graffanino and Josh Paul, 2 bench mainstays in the 00s-Jerry Manuel period, made costly errors that were extremely helpful to the Sox in the 05 playoffs.
