A healthy Giannis is one of the two best players in the world, but he’s also 31 and has struggled to stay on the court. Signing an injury plagued aging star to a long contract that will weigh us down like an anchor during Ant’s prime while also destroying our depth and depleting any remaining assets is a terrible move.
I also can’t help but notice that a lot of teams who could definitely beat our offer and maintain a more complete roster afterwards don’t seem interested in trading for him, and I strongly suspect that his age + injuries + contract expectations are a big part of it.
The fans here who are just thinking about Giannis in his prime are missing the forest for the trees.

Fellas we already know Giannis wants to come here. This is just making me anxious.
I don’t know, I feel like when a superstar of this caliber wants to come here, you just do whatever it takes to make it happen. Ant and Giannis could be the Kobe and Shaq of this generation. I love the players on this team, but it’s pretty obvious they didn’t make a huge leap that’s going to propel them passed OKC in a 7 game series.

Honestly I don’t like this option: why sign him when bucks failed to make Gianni’s happy with his brothers
I love Giannis but I think this trade is far too risky. The dude just can’t stay healthy and to think his injury rate will decrease as he ages seems laughable.
I don’t like him on a 35% max going into his mid 30s, especially as Ant is hitting the peak of his powers. He already has injury problems “in his prime” he can’t shoot now, how does his game age, along with his availability.
Even that considered he’s out now with a calf strain and if we trade 3 rotation players for a guy we would absolutely need him to be 100% on day 1 and that’s just not happening. Sure he’s probably the best player to ever want to come here but I’m not doing this now. Maybe in the offseason when he’s healthy it would make more sense but not in season
