Horrible picks but wcyd.
Wonder how protected that warriors pick is because that thunder one is gonna be 30th
How protected is the Warriors pick?
Worst trade in the history of the NBA just solidified itself with this return
only interesting one is the warriors one depending on how protected it is
Woof kinda fake first rounder picks
Literally got nothing, is the takeaway from this. Warriors pick would be good… but it’s top20 protected lol.
I was all for trading him (back in the summer already), but for nothing, might as well keep him.
Wait we’re getting this years thunder pick and the 2030 protected warriors??? What the F
Protected wtf???
So basically one late FRP. Considering we received basically only expiring contracts and dumped D’Lo without needing to pay up…still happy. No need to delve on sunk cost. We have breathing room now and can keep Naji and Gaff unless a real good offer comes.
Well that drastically lowers my excitement…those FRPs suck but AD was basically an albatross
Still awful. But finally some closure. Never hated you AD but good riddance.
So basically 5 seconds
Shitty trade for us mavs fans.
Oh so the picks are dogshit too…..cool cool
It’s over. Finally
so 5 2nd round picks basically
The key to the value here isn’t really the actual picks. It’s the ability to now package picks for other places or other deals down the line.
Bro we literally got nothing. I fucking hate Nico Harrison and fuck Adam silver for even letting that trade happen.
Ok, as a AD-trade skeptic, I am relatively ok with this deal.
I mean it ain’t great, but we accomplished a lot of things.
* Got multiple 1sts and 2nds = opportunity to add more talent during our pick drought.
* Got rid of DLo, Hardy and Exum’s deals.
* Middleton is expiring so coming off the books this summer and can be bought out so he doesn’t hurt our pick
* Branham and Johnson may be nothing but they are on Flagg’s timeline.
* Bagley is expiring and cheap. Can also be cut or kept.
* Cutting Bagley and Middleton opens up roster spots for Cisse and Nembhard.
We might end up with air, but picks are assets, and our salary cap situation is a hell of a lot cleaner.
EDIT: Oof the OKC pick will be 30, and the GSW pick may become a 2nd if they aren’t in the top 10 teams. “First round picks” should be in parentheses.
Lmao this is so bad…basically salary dumped him and got some seconds…
Peanuts, but it’s whatever, every little bit helps.
Marvin Bagley III being thrown in there feels like a final fuck you though. Here’s the guy the Kings were stupid enough to pass on Luka to draft, just to remind you of how bad that trade was.
The reality is an injured AD on his contract is not a very positive asset. The damage was done last year.
Fuck Nico forever. Traded Luka for 34 yr old Middleton, Max Christie, and 2 FRPs (no chance in hell the GSW one will convey, so the lakers one and the thunder this year…lol)
Meh picks, but the most important thing here is $70 million off the books next season
Anyone complaining about picks needs understand, it was almost certainly not getting any better than this. I really think the main priority for the Mavs at this point was just to get the hell out from under AD’s horrible salary. Sometimes cutting your losses is the best you can do.
So do I love it? No. But at this point, I’ll take it because we were *never* getting lottery picks or all-stars for AD. AD is a straight up liability at this point. Whatever interest the Hawks or whoever might have had almost certainly went out the window with the most recent injury. Only a team like the Wizards who are perpetually desperate for *any* kind of recognizable star would trade for AD.
And those picks aren’t *nothing.* Late first rounders, and second rounders too have a lot more value in today’s NBA than in years past. I’ll take the 30th pick over no pick at all, any day of the week.
Just glad to be rid of AD. F you, Nico.
Glad we got rid of street clothes. Lets gooo!!!!
Maybe they can trade all those 2nds and borderline 2nds for an actually decent 1st
I have yet to see anyone call this a bad trade, and in any other context, it would be, but man I’m so happy with this trade. Basically five 2nds, but we get off AD’s contract, extension talks, and the AD experience overall.
I’m pretty fuckin happy right now with this
We traded Luka for Max Christie, a 2029 LA first and no other picks in the top 20 LOOOOOL
It’s awesome trade , 5 2nd rounders and more importantly, we won’t have to pay luxury tax tax. Great day
Thanks for another top 4 pick, Adam.
Dumped 3 bad contracts. One of those guys probably won’t play 100 games total in the next 3 years
Just a reminder for everyone that does not like this trade: We can’t just ‘RUN IT BACK’ because we would be in The second apron. The guys we would like to trade – Martin, Klay,AD – no one wants at their salary, injury history or current talent. If we don’t dump one of them we will be forced to dump players we actually want to keep.
The fact that we found someone to take AD off our hands is a miracle and we got more for him than I thought we could.
Now, if we could get a couple of second round picks for Klay and Martin we would be good to go.
