  1. Good now they are definetely gonna keep Skubal and go for it. Rather he be there then on the Dodgers.

  2. From “is this guy gonna get a contract or what?” to one of the highest AAV’s ever.

I mean, that’s the era we are in now.

Honestly thought he’d have to settle for like 1 year/$25M and go back on the market.

Good for Framber, though. Hope he comes alive.

  3. Who would’ve thought, it was Skubal’s hearing holding up Framber’s market. There’s no way Tigers could sign someone for $38M/year before the hearing and make the case Skubal is worth literally half of that for 1 year.

  4. The timing of this with Skubal arbitration hearing raises eyebrows, are they gearing up to trade Skubal for a big haul now instead of letting him walk in Free Agency and only getting the comp pick? Make the call if they are, if it’s a similar prospect package as the Juan Soto deal, pull the trigger Cashman!

  5. There’s no way this dude is worth $38MM/yr but I guess high AAV and short term contracts is just how we’re doing business now, like how the NBA does it. I wonder if this is better for the players union instead of just holding out until Spring Training for one team to bite and give a 6-7 year deal.

  6. This is insane.

He’s a workhorse, but there’s a much more than zero chance he throws a ball that strikes Skubal in the dugout.

  7. I know it’s not the Yankees style, but they need to extend Schlittler before he sniffs free agency
