Fucking stupid play from Larkin. Lots of different ways to handle that that don’t hurt your team. How about after the whistle or the next shift or tell Ras to fucking do something about it. At least get your fucking moneys worth instead of doing the thing that’s obviously a penalty the refs have to call. If he roughs him the ref may eat the whistle after missing the cup check. Or slash him where it fucking hurts. Just awful. For a 5/3 too when you’re already down really.

But his retaliatory slash was moronic. All it did was put us down 2-0. If you want to retaliate, fight him. Otherwise you’re going on the PK. That’s not leadership. Or wait five minutes, tell Chiarot or someone else to fight him. Slashing a guy’s stick in half accomplished nothing good.
As others have said, I get being mad about the no call, but either actually get the guy and make it worth the two minutes and probable goal, or wait until a less critical time for your pound of flesh. Chopping his stick in half is an easy call and does nothing. Not a smart play by the captain.
Why slash his stick? At least go for the wrist.

The ref’s screwed this one up bad, just like the missed hooking call on a break away against the wings by the Av’s the other day.

So, every other major sport has replay assist to look at these things. Yet. Hockey. Refuses. To. Utilize. The replay. Assist. To me, it’s a major ego thing with NHL referees/hockey referees in general. It’s super lame. This should have been a game misconduct. Unbelievable.
Hopefully Larkin will learn from this. Retaliation is definitely warranted and needed. But not that.
