6. For some reason, was Bruce grabbing at something is he’s still hearing about Galllen or are Cubs really quite right now and if pitching goes wrong in the season he could go back and reference him begging Jed to sign Gallen, sorta I told you so type thing.

7. What is so controversial about adding a durable top of the rotation pitcher? Gallen would be the best pitcher on the staff if they sign him.

If we add Gallen the front office could do a package of Taillon + Shaw/Hoerner (if he doesn't extend), they wont have to chase a SP next year (when Taillons contract is up) and could add something else (OF, MI etc). Not sure if thats a need, but looking forward it makes sense, so we're not stuck in "have to chase (position)" next year

12. Taillon signed 4/$68. He is the guy to go if Gallen is signed. I think you are disrespecting the trade value of Taillon. Gallen will become the new Taillon. 3/$75 or 4/$100. Boyd, Shota can walk next year. Gallen will provide stability for Horton, Cabrera, and Wiggins. Shedding Taillon salary makes Gallen more affordable.

14. You can never have too much pitching. If the wheels fall off, the trade deadline is ahead and you can always get a good return in prospects to hopefully replenish the Cubs minor league teams.

16. Gallen is a righty, so no trade for Boyd for him. But, if Skubal is available, then they would trade Boyd. For Gallen, they will put one starter in bullpen. Starter would be Gallen, Horton, Cabrera, Boyd, Shota, and Taillon goes to bullpen or do a 6 man rotation.
    When Steele comes back, they can trade Shota in June.

17. Now Tigers signed Valdez for 38+m AAV , trading Skubal is more realistic now.
    Cubs can entice them with trading Boyd + Wiggins + a position player, even through in Wicks or Assad, for one year of Skubal! Now we can compete with the top team on paper.
