Cleveland Guardians Roster PROJECTION 3.0 REVEALED | Position Competitions & Last Ditch Trades Ideas

Cleveland Guardians haven’t made any meaningful offensive additions with spring training looming. Where does that leave the roster to start the season and is there a potential last-ditch offensive upgrade that can be made? Is there more urgency needed with the impact of AL Central rivals’ moves, including the Tigers adding Framber Valdez. Can Juan Brito, Kyle Manzardo, and top prospects like Chase DeLauter provide enough help for Jose Ramirez, or can the Guardians make a move for an everyday bat like Isaac Paredes or Christian Walker?
Justin Lada breaks down Guardians roster projection 3.0, spotlighting the battles between Gabriel Arias, Daniel Schneemann, and prospects vying for infield and outfield spots. The bullpen is set with Cade Smith as the likely closer, but questions remain about depth and injury risk. The show also includes Stephen Vogt’s lineup strategy.

  1. While I hope they add a bat, same hope the entire off season, realistically I expect they won’t. They will just continue to let’s play the young players, it is a good chance that 2nd, CF, RF will be players with 0-1 year of mlb experience I agree with you hoping Brito has a great spring and make his debut and that DeLauter stays healthy. Again lots of hope and hope shouldn’t be the strategy every year. Not to sound negative as I am a huge fan and generally have a positive outlook on life but this off season besides Jose signing and then lesser extent Armstrong signing has made it very frustrating being a fan. Always love the podcast you both do a great job,

  2. I am delirious, but I think Fairchild has an Austin Jackson like year. I am not sure what they plan to do. Fry, Fairchild, Martinez, Brito against lefties feel like the Family Guy parody of the six million dollar man: "We can rebuild him, but I don't want to spend too much money" and Peter is made of Garbage.

  3. Great show Justin. I got to say I'm a little surprised that Kayfus isn't on your roster, but understand you need right hand bats. If I had to guess, tomorrow Jeff will say Gabby needs to be on the roster for infield defense.

  4. I know you guys don’t really want him to, but Kayfus will make the opening day roster, as will DeLauter and Valera. Id so much rather Kayfus get starts at 1B over Fry. I know you want Fry vs LHP but I really want Kayfus to get 400+ PAs. I wish Bazz would as well but alas, Super 2 is a thing.

  5. Lmao- Brito is NOT breaking camp as the starting 2B. There is no way that this team, with as much as they value defense, allows him to play significant time. Brito doesn’t have a future with this club. Plus his OPS is inflated due mostly to walks, and we all know walk rate doesn’t transfer to MLB. I think Arias and Schnee will be the other MIFs.

  6. So, the Guards sign Jose for life because they know they cannot add anything around him or to protect him in this lineup? Guy won't be in his prime forever.

  7. Kwan and Messick for Paredes and Sanchez? You’re getting desperate my man…. Stop trying to force roster moves that aren’t necessary. Trading them Brito is fine, but their GM would likely never answer your calls again if you offered that. I’d trade Brito for a bag of baseballs.

  8. If Andrew McCutchen doesn’t end up resigning with the Pirates, would it be worth looking at him? He hit lefties wall last year still and had a good walk rate. Good veteran clubhouse presence too.

  9. Getting the Framber Valdez move is crushing. The Tigers have a bunch of hitting prospects and an almost baren pitching prosect landscape and just circumvented that by signing a top 10 pitcher in baseball.

Our lineup is almost entirely left handed. This move has flipped the division on its head.
