Cold weather hits hard. CJ is an awesome QB. We invested all our efforts into the defense, now we need to do the same on offense.
I think the concussion had some lasting effects or something
I’ve got the same hope but all I can see right now is just how bad he was at times in the playoffs. Was genuinely impressive just how bad he was
Have hope he’ll be the guy but his decision making and mentality are a worry
Now show the 100 over throws, and late throws
I like how there is only 8 plays in this and 2 are from the Seahawks game that he was absolutely terrible in.
So many back foot throws
Everyone looks like a badass in their highlights reel

Hell no.
Cold weather excuse in professional sports is ridiculous. They aren’t iguanas falling out of trees. Also, apparently, playing ncaaf out of OSU meant nothing. I dont get it.
Rams fan here so admittedly don’t watch as many Texans games as I’m sure others here do.
I’ll acknowledge CJ had a great rookie campaign, but I felt like every game I watched this season he was overthrowing his targets, and at times by pretty wide margins. He made Nico look mediocre, which I’d imagine would be difficult given his talent.
Curious if you think adding a weapon would change this and get him back to his rookie showing.
If you’re a mf hater just join a different fanbase.. it’s so simple. It’s annoying af to constantly read people complaining and criticizing when it changes absolutely nothing. I’ll never follow blindly but my god stfu
Maybe we should be askin how bad was he
CJ Stroud = Jalen Green iykyk
Pre-fear CJ 😭
🆗
CJ is the QB you can rely on to take you to the playoffs with around 10/11 wins, assuming the team has an elite unit somewhere else.
He’s got it in him. He had a whole season of being a very good nfl qb. Something in his head wasn’t right in the playoffs, and as someone whose head hasn’t always been right I can tell you that it’s not necessarily a death sentence.
I don’t care what he did in any game besides the one that could have sent us to play a back up quarterback in Denver….
Man that’s our QB, yea he played bad but what else are we gonna do? Sign Daniel Jones, Malik Willis, Russel Wilson, mariota?? He’s young, 24 year old and coming up on his 4th season. All in! Believe in #7 or bust!
When he is settled and feeling confident, he is accurate and makes ‘all the throws’. It is when things go off script and that first inevitable error/mistake happens during a scramble-drill or somehow a play blows up – that is when he starts pressing to ‘make up for it’ and he starts panicking. Which leads to a second mistake, then third and then fourth. Pretty soon four interceptions and five fumbles…. Once the defense gets into his head they cause him to rush which means even more mistakes. It feels to me that once a negative play happens, his play spirals downhill fast. He needs to let plays go and forget about them (good AND bad), the ONLY play that matters is this one (the next play called).
The highlights look lije he is an all-pro QB, but the low-lights do not. Overall, until he finds a way to stop regressing after mistakes in games….he is a middle of the pack QB overall.
I have confidence that he can eliminate the yips after an error, but he may be running out of time to get it done with only 2 years left on his rookie deal.
This dude sucks.
Stroud just needs more experience. He has the raw gifts, now he just needs to learn how to use them. Dude has 3 seasons.
The best thing for the Texans will be if CJ has a progression year and balls out. Hopefully the last two playoff games and seasons are a wake up call for him.
How good he could be if he stayed out of his own head and calmed tf down
Sam Darnold showed us you can’t give up on a QB after an abysmal playoff choke.
He’s our James Harden! Great regular season!!
Nah. I’m tired of his lack accountability. Jesus made up throw that interception type shit.
i’m gonna hope a second season with the same personnel will be good for cj
Caley is the problem
The real glaring issue w CJ the last 2 ssns has been consistency. The dude will make one of the most insanely awful throws or plays you’ve witnessed or just have a legit horrific reaction to pressure and then follow that up w one of the best throws that even Peyton Manning would be proud of. He’s rarely just consistently average for an entire game. No horrible plays, no amazing plays, just average. Don’t agree w Aikman on a ton of things but he was absolutely correct in saying CJ just has not developed since he got in the league, in fact he’s regressed. Huge offseason for CJ this year cuz if he plays the same as this ssn he’s either 1. Not getting any extension offers that he’s going to want (from us or potentially others), 2. We will trade him. A fork in the road for his future career started after that game in NE ended.
I BELIEVE
He’s top 10 efficiency wise. The grass is very likely not greener. If he stays the same player he was in years 1 and 3 (overall EPA/play was basically identical) then the big question is mostly about his extension expectations.
If he wants top 3 market setting money and you get into a bidding war then you probably have to let him walk but the team will also almost certainly be worse as a result. It would still be the right decision long term.
If he’s willing to sign in the $40m/year range then that’s solid value and probably the best thing you could do.
If he gets better then it’s a no-brainer and you just pay him.
Don’t overreact to the playoff loss. There’s a very short list of QBs (maybe 5 total) who *might* have handled those circumstances better and you don’t have a shot at any of them. I’m not a Texans fan so I’m not being a homer about this.
