Go cubbies you do a hell of job on this it helps me with
My mental health
Dude they are not trading Skubal this year now that they have Valdez. Enough with the trade speculation…black throated wind!
He's not worth it for being a rental. He's gonna get over 300 million dollars and there's no way the Cubs do that. He's 100% testing Free agency. At his age 30 season. 300 million for 7-9 years is a massive overpay
Too bad we didn’t sign Andujar.
Skubal trade would be one of the dumbest most self destructive things in the history of the Cubs. Not worth it. He is another Boras client, no extending possible. Our farm sucks as it is, not worth Wiggins, Conrad, or anybody else. That would gut the system for a rental. And they just signed Framber.. so no, find something else to prattle on about
There is also a chance an albino gorilla will climb a skyscraper in NYC. It's more likely than Skubal being traded before the break and they determine whether they are buyers or sellers.
lots of teams want Nico. So what? Zac Gallen and his 5.8 ERA can suck it. Cubs need to keep some cash on hand for the trade deadline. Assad and his 3 ERA and one million dollar salary is far better than Zac and his 25 million a year check. Why do we talk about such ignorant things? Let's get rid of Nico but add Zac. Try doing a show that says the Cubs have a good rotation, 2 or 3 guys who can also start, and a good line up with a good bench, 2 good catchers, and a good bullpen. Can the team get better? ALL TEAMS can get better. But you don't add a 3B and get rid a 2B. They have 5 starters. Plus Steele and Assad and Rea. Extend Happ? He's a .240 hitter who has 23 dingers and strikes about 140 times a year and gets a gold glove every year. Not alot to hate there. He's probably a top 5 producer in LF in MLB. Horton, Cabrerra, Boyd, Taillon, Shote. Rea, Steele, Assad. That's 8 starters. That is enough to get you through the trade deadline. If Verlander wants to sign in June for 5 MIL a year? Get him.
Don't spend millions for a 1 year rental. The Cubs don't have a lot of money now and no great farm system now. You can't get rid of Shaw and Wiggins. In the playoffs the Dodgers are just too good.
They didn't go in on Tucker last year. Going all in would have been adding at the trade deadline. You have no idea what you are talking about. Trading for one year of Skubal would be stupid just like irlt was stupid to trade for one year of Tucker.
They don't need Gallen.
Thanks Mick for working on your vacation. I’m bummed we didn’t go after Framber. The Cubs did the rental with Tucker and won’t make that mistake with Skubal. Go get Gallen!
Trade skubal may be realistic now because they just signed Valdez.
Jed is a total moron if he trades Nico. Extend him already, he wants to stay and he’s one of, if not the best, players on the team.
Skubal’s arbitration numbers I believe come out today they say. If he getting 30 million. I think there is a chance they trade him. Because there was talks they didn’t have a lot of money to pay him, and get other pieces they wanted. Plus no way Valdez makes more than him in any scenario per year, and on the say team. I say we go all out for him if that is an option.
At this point before the season I would say Skubal isn’t being traded even if he wins arbitration. If he wins arbitration and they’re a clear favorite to win the division he’s untouchable. If they’re struggling as a team at the deadline and he won arbitration, he’s gone for sure. Even if he loses arbitration there’s a chance at the deadline he’s moved if they are struggling but a lot less likely.
