Caserio on Joe Mixon

  1. Aaron Wilson kept saying that Mixon wasn’t healthy yet and it seems like Caserio basically confirmed it.

  2. I wish him the best of luck on his next team, and appreciate everything he did behind a bum offensive line two years ago.

  3. Relying on a 30 year old rb coming off an injury that is serious enough to sideline him an entire year is not how you fix the run game.

  4. I wish him the best, but Texans are gonna wait and see whether he can play or not and miss out on FA and draft, aren’t they?

  5. Why are we even wasting time on him? Just cut your losses and move on. It feels like Demeco and Caserio get way too attached to certain players. Go make a run at Breece Hall.

  6. Breece Hall time!! Anytime someone says they had a “freak” incident means they got fucked up and wont be the same. The human body is only so indestructible.

Tank’s lower leg was basically hanging on by skin and he was closer to coming back.

  7. Yall are fucking crazy to write him off as quick as yall are. No one is saying he’s going to fix the run game but people keep using his age against him and he keeps proving them wrong. If we can keep him for cheap, fucking do it especially with our OLine improving later in the season.

  8. Mixon, Ogunbowale and Chubb should all be gone. There are sufficiently good RBs who can play a few carries and play ST (Gainwell for ex) in the FA.
In the draft, Rounds 3 & 4 are good spots for draft solid RBs (Jadarian Price, Mike Washington Jr, Kaelon Black)

  9. As long as woody shows improvement over last year. It won’t matter, mixon had an injury where he missed an entire season, he may never be the same if he had to miss a whole season.

  10. Cut him, get him off the books and free up 8M in cap, and draft a RB or get a young FA RB for cheaper.

Keep him it’s a 10M cap hit or Cut him and take 2M in dead cap with 8M that would be spent on other players that are a need.

Mixon has played in 16/38(42%) possible games including playoffs with the Texans and he is 30.

  11. His net cap hit if we keep him ia $8mm. $10mm contract year with $2mm in dead cap if we cut him. For it to make sense, he’d need to come back and perform as well as an $8mm free agent. It’s that simple. If he can do it, great. If not, that’s the reality of the NFL.

Edit: And for the record, the only free agent running back out there that is more than $8mm is Breece Hall. So Mixon would have to outperform anyone on the streets but him.

  12. love mixon and love tank, but fans chasing that 23/24 feeling setting themselves up for disappointment

  13. If they bring him back and that’s a HUGE if, then it will assuredly be at a significantly reduced rate. Current cap hit is $10 mil but he’s out of guaranteed $ and if they cut him it’s $8il in cap savings. Theoretically they could agree to a new 1 year incentive-laden deal with low guarantees and cap hit and bring him back if the health checks out. Even if he’s washed/doesn’t get fully healthy then not much risk. Would obviously need to bring another mid tier FA or draft a guy round 3/4 in that case. My preference would be just cut ties and sign one of Breece/Etienne (doubt Walker leaves after charbs late acl). If not the top dogs then a mid tier FA like Dowdle, Allgeier, White, Gainwell, Brian Robinson to varying levels of contracts.

  14. We gotta stop trying to Moneyball a football team. It doesn’t really work in this sport.

  15. I don’t think he will do anything for us next season tbh. Why else would everyone on the team keep his condition and recovery updates a secret. No one knows what’s going on with Joe. From my understanding he’s not even doing rehab with the Texans

  16. Instead of contemplating Mixon, we should just cut him save $8 million and attempt to trade for an unhappy Chase Brown. He’s only 25 yrs old going into his final contract yr. We have trade history with the Bengals and this would solve our RB position for good.
A 3rd round pick might do it

  17. As a GM who is sold as very precise and logical. His decisions end up wasting cap room. I believe there is an out with Mixon. The offense is struggling and will continue to struggle next season. We need a committee of trustworthy rbs, and we only have 1.

  18. Moving on – mixon is a dog and if healthy yeah I would co-sign on it but he’s not.

  19. Translation: Barring some medical miracle, we will cut him if he’s not in RB1 shape and ability.
