  1. At least without Morgan, Carlo looks alright. Even if Makar played for the Leafs and was paired with Morgan, as I have been arguing. Makar would like a mediocre and average defenseman. Lol

  2. Adam forgets after this sample size that they did try OEL on the 1st unit before and it struggled too and that is with Morgan being put on the 2nd PP unit. So using the 1 game sample size is a bit disingenous if you ask me

  3. The time was before Dubas gave him the huge extension. His flaws were only ever sort of coverable by his freakishly high atheticism. He should not have been extended, unfortunately.

  4. Rielly dates back to that disaster in Boston, where the Leafs fell 5-4 in overtime after winning 4-1 in the third period. That is one major method if you really want to alter the Leafs' DNA. Move away from Rielly.

  5. The problem is, no competing team would want him. He's not good enough to be top 4 on a contender and his defense isn't good enough for bottom pair. He would only go to a bottom or mid team to sure up defense for a couple of seasons until that team improves enough they dont need him.

    Slim pickings

  6. Some FACTS : You can't say "get the hell out" to Full NMC guy. Sorry, won't happen. Either you buy him out or suggest him that could he consider move. If he doesn't, you're stuck with him. Simple as that.

  7. How many assets wasted over the years to find a suitable partner for Reilly! Last one Brandon Carlo, we lost Minten and look at the future of Centers we have…this summer after July 1 his salary is 6M.If he doesn't want to waive, buy him out and reconstruct Defense

  8. There are ways to try to facilitate a resolution with morgan if not this year then over summer. You tell him that it would be in his best interest to play for another organization because we are going in different direction. YOU can help us by giving us list of teams in order to get the process going. IM sure morgan would stand pat and say no he is not waiving is NMC thats when leafs organization can have some balls and say we are reducing your ice time your are not getting top pairing minutes your getting bottom pairing minutes no pp time no penalty killing time Players have ego and after awhile will figure out they are not welcomed and will want to move on .Why does people think its hard to get rid of bad contracts wake up it happens all time in NHL if other teams can do it then so can leafs the question is do they have balls to do it

  9. Feels like the Marner situation. Like, you want to kick him out cause he's not good enough to take the team to the next level, and that's maybe valid, but you're never going to replace him. The team will be significantly worse without Rielly, even if you get something for him.

Basically, if you move Rielly, it's because you're blowing it all up.

  10. The guy cant pass, he cant shoot, get cant QB the PP, and he screens his own goalie more than anyone else in the league. You have to keep him out of the lineup for the season.

  11. This is a fun conversation, yet the facts still remain. 1. How do you move a player in Rielly's position and get anything of value back? 2. The conversation started with he's not a number one D and he plays way too much. Who's fault is that? Morgan's? Name whatever year's team during his tenure you want and it still won't be his fault that he's been the de facto number one D 3. Even IF they can move on from Rielly, saying the older left hand shot D are the answer, has been a consistent issue with this club. I would be shocked if Morgan Rielly left the organization for any other reason than he can't play hockey anymore.
