This is a big reason, not the only reason for sure, but a big one- teams selling out sending 3-4 bodies, 6-8 grabbing, fouling arms (and sometimes some tripping legs too) at him every time he has the ball in the paint. It's not like he and the coaches don't want him to be feeding at the rim.

That said, the Timmy midrange bank shot would be an amazing add to his bag to help this.

  1. He definitely needs to work on decision making and passing out of double and triple teams.

Then other guys need to hire their shots when he does

  2. Combination of teams respecting Wemby’s game and those same teams rightfully disrespecting the Spurs’ horrendous 3pt shooters.

This is why good spacing matters, folks.

  3. Okay so a couple things….

    1. He really doesn’t shoot that many 3s lol. Like 70% of his FGA are 2s.

    2. A third of his FGA come at the rim.

    3. If he does take too many jumpers it’s bc he’s playing with a bunch of guards/wings who are all worse shooters than him

  4. It’s wild some people can WATCH so much basketball but never understand it like that

  5. This is exactly what I always tell people. Early in the season he did a lot of damage inside. But teams have adjusted and we have no counter because our team can’t shoot.

  6. There were a few games earlier this season when he was really trying to establish himself inside and teams were taking that opportunity to beat him up as much as possible. Personally I think everything about Wemby’s game looks better when he’s shooting the 3 ball often and making the defense have to come out to play him.

Wemby is never going to be Shaq, Wemby is Wemby

  7. Have yall seen how many scars wemby has on his arms and shoulders 🙁 im assuming he gets fouled at least twice as much as gets called.

  8. Have you seen his first step off the dribble? From his length alone he will blow by opposing centers and guards with that first step. Wemby will make enough 3s for the defense to respect it and bite for the fake, and that first step will allow a clear lane to the basket and/or size advantage of other opposing players. It’s really that simple.
