  1. Even the trashy Angels organization signed Ohtani 30mil for 1yr to avoid arbitration in 2023 and now, the Tigers couldn’t even offer close to 30mil for Skubal, their homegrown 2x cy young guy 🗑️

  2. Tigers support a Salary Cap in 2027 of $200 Million a year…that way they can pay SKUBAL to the $19 million that they offered him in Arbitration. And Skubal will have to take it. 2X Cy Young winner or not.

  3. I guarantee Skubal wants a long deal and the Tigers won’t do that. It’s pretty simple. If Skubal accepted 3 years, he would have already got the bag.

  4. A lot of these comments didn’t watch the first 90s of this video. But also Samson they’re shipping Skubal pending the Arb ruling, the final number probably affects their return in a trade package

  5. was it a coincidence that Vadlez got double what the Tigers offered Skubal. maybe the Tigers want to get the $19m arb decision to then trade Skubal at a lower salary

  6. I understand that its a business but all you are doing here is making yourself known that your team will not pay the the players that they have, so why would they want to play there.

  7. I think that now that the Tigers signed Valdez, they will still re-sign Skubal… A small fortune necessary to show serious effort to win a World Series…. He would pay dividends plenty if the Tigers are smart enough to re-sign him.

  8. It all about the contract time. Long time contacts just don’t have value over the long term. Skubal and Boris are looking for, yes a great pitcher, but a couple shoulder issues, and durability into his mid-late 30s at 50-60 million is a ligament concern. Skubal at 32 million is a great deal still (Boris is playing ‘hardball’). Go for it all with that this year, of if it doesn’t work out, maybe if it doesn’t a trade late is still some return. Detroit is not going to resign. 2027 is a lock out year, Skubal will be one year older. Detroit is dealing with reality. They are not a big market team, it’s business, so a great rotation this year, and move on from the Skubal drama.

  9. This sht is not difficult to understand. I'm from Detroit. They are not going to give a fkkn pitcher a long term contract. Specially one approaching age 30. We are not a mjaor market and haven't been for decades. Chris Illitch is not his old man. He's not going to dump as much money as he can to try to win. Yeah toss 35 to 40 million to a pitcher for 8 years. Lets see what that does to the franchise in the future. We are not Los Angeles who I assume can afford to pay all that deferred money further down the line. If this was about the money, then why the fck did they give Valdez $38 per??? Simple, 3 year deal!!!! Sorry but have any Tigers fans paid any damn attention to their free agency signings over the last few years??? Everyone is 1 to 3 year deals.

  10. Detroit has a lot going on with all of its team I feel like the Tigers, Lions, and Pistons are all very close to winning it all especially the Pistons. A few good key moves for each team gets them there.

  11. Spew all about "rules" and differences between free agency and arbitration. Bottom line: the Tigers have a generational, once in a lifetime talent and they are treating him like crap. Sophistry buys you nothing when common sense glaringly shows the obvious.

  12. All this talk of the Tigers embarrassing themselves on this process, but did they actually make such a low number as a way of allowing Skubal to get what he wanted? Based on how the arbitration process works, is this not a possibility?
