Why is he doing this

  1. Giannis likes money too much, it’s understandable given he grew up in abject poverty but stuff like this will cause him all sorts of problems down the line

  2. Kalshi users on average lose money faster than on sports gambling. Kalshi is actually just pure evil.

  3. hes always been a kid from extreme poverty. if you have ever been to a place like that and interacted with those kids, youd understand giannis better. he doesnt have the need to please other people. he just wants more and more and more. that can be good and bad

  4. It’s still wildly unregulated, honestly just a matter of time before he’s forced to divest imo

  5. Giannis seems like he says the right things in interviews and is well spoken, however, I have a hunch he is a complete pain in the ass behind the scenes.

  6. Guys, we don’t have to excuse it just bc we like Giannis. Many of us grew up in deep poverty; it doesn’t justify a thing. Giannis also is deeply Christian. There is no excuse for being a bad person.

I don’t think this was a super involved decision for him. I’m sure he employs people to make him money and this just happens to be something they added to his portfolio. But there isn’t any excuse that makes this not look bad unfortunately. They’re roasting him over in r/nba, and he has it coming for this. Though he’s certainly not the only player that will be duped into this crap

  7. It is shitty to be involved in this and he fell in my eyes for sure.

But then again, NBA, LeBron, Kawhi and many others are promoting gambling and/or are affiliated with it.

I guess this is the sports world in 2026.

  8. So this tells me he bet heavily on “Giannis staying with Milwaukee.” Fcking scam economy. The rich just print their own money.

  9. This is bullshit and if the world worked the way it should Giannis would be penalized and maybe even suspended for engaging with this brand at all. By far the most disappointing thing he’s ever done. Objectively an evil action only justified by immense greed.

  10. Went from doing no ads to being on Kohls commercials and taking sketchy gambling sponsorships 😢

  11. Always seemed like a standup guy. Beyond disappointing he would endorse this shit in any way

  12. Giannis, you’ve made enough money, there is no need to whore yourself out to a degenerate gambling den

  13. Money is the answer. Not a fan of him doing it. Sports gambling IMO is a cancer on society but also can’t say I’m shocked.

  14. Pretty soon, enough of us will be affected by this in bad ways with family members and friends. At that point, pro sports and all this shit will wane. Personally, and I have been beating this drum alot, I want us to just trade him for Towns, Bridges, and Kolek.

  15. The timing is fascinating. I don’t love the optics, and inherently disagree with this decision, but based on his comments, this feels tied to how betting and prediction markets shape public narratives. We’ve seen how reporting can move markets–remember that post about shams that was recirculating–even speculative takes can drive betting. That feedback loop influences perception. Clearly Giannis, the bucks, and “his camp” took issue with this news cycle… have you ever seen a direct response like that to a specific reporter before?

If Giannis believes markets help form opinion, investing in one is a very intentional choice. It’s almost like a power move. Maybe even a villain move.

  16. “Gambling has no place in the NBA, unless the players are official spokesmen for the gambling site.”

  17. Yeah man, this deadass makes me more uncomfortable than if he had been traded to the Warriors
