  1. I don’t understand why you would even allow for a protected pick outside maybe top 3. So then the trade was just Knight for Jones straight up? To a team who won a cup. Terrible

  2. Giving the reigning cup champs and favorites to win this degree of leeway in a trade is nuts. If florida keeps the pick next years will be worth so much less when they all recover from injury.

  3. Here's what I think happened: The info that it was a protected pick was never made public, and Frank recently found out given his close ties with the team and sat on the information until he launched his website

  4. Given how great the Hawks have drafted over the last few seasons – If I'm Davidson and I was picking #6 and #12 (for example) my goal would be to trade up and go all in on Gavin McKenna. Package #6 with #12 and move up to #2 or package #6 with Korchinski if a team needs top tier defensive prospect. The Hawks have the assets to get it done without depleting their prospect pool – I wouldn't trade Frondell, Nazr, Lardis etc but I would consider Korchinski and possibly Oliver Moore if Moore had to be part of the deal to get it done.. Now is the time to be aggressive and make these types of moves..

  5. ""Best case scenario, the Panthers finish 11th." NO, the best-case scenario is the Hawks get the Panthers unconditional first round pick in '27. The Panthers are in decline and next year's draft is deeper, especially at the top, with 3 potential franchise players.

  6. If I were Davdison, I'd have a look at the Jones/Knight trade paperwork filed with the league and if needed take this situation up with a league arbitrator ASAP…. I mean this trade was NOT originally reported as "protected pick" – I know this for a fact – because I was amazed by the return so I made a mental note of it. My first thought after getting pumped about acquiring Spencer Knight was "wouldn't it be funny if Florida fails next season and the Panthers pick turns into a lottery pick".. I would have NOT thought that if the pick was reported as protected.. Moreover I thought it was kinda "reckless" that Florida DIDN'T protect the pick, but at the time they were Cup shoe-ins and little would change between then and now.. Of course I was wrong, Florida has had a terrible season by their standards…. Either way, that doesn't matter – that pick WAS NOT reported as "protected"…. So yea, I'd LOVE to see the transaction paperwork or trade summery filed with the league because THAT is essentially a contract and it will indicate if the pick is protected or not, either way it needs to be investigated and reported on correctly ASAP because a lot of fans of multiple teams are very confused.. And honestly if the pick WAS protected then HOW/WHY did the league allow Florida to ship their 2027 first round pick to Boston??? if the 2026 first round pick was protected then the Marchand trade should have been denied since that pick would have been in limbo pending the outcome of the 2026 season, hence NOT available for trade…

So yea, something isn't right – there are only two outcomes that can come from this – Florida's 2026 first round pick is either UNCONDITIONAL or the Brad Marchand trade was ILLEGAL because the 2027 first round pick belongs to the Hawks (but Boston believes they own it) and I cant see Boston overlooking the validity of the first round pick they're acquiring for Brad Marchand…. Of course this only applies IF Florida finishes with a top 10 pick – if they don't – then all of these arguments are moot and Hawks fans can forget I ever made this post, lol.

  7. How does Florida trade a "conditional" 2026 first round pick that COULD become a 2027 first round pick to the Blackhawks – then a couple of days later trade THAT SAME 2027 first round pick THAT MAY GO TO CHICAGO to Boston for Brad Marchand???? How, how can that be overlooked – that makes the Brad Marchand trade VOID….. Look, the league is going to have to sort this out – this is a HUGE mistake, and I'm confident the pick was NOT protected because if it was the league should have VETOED the Marchand trade since the first round pick going to Boston for Marchand COULD be owned by the Blackhawks pending the outcome of the 2026 season…. So Florida or the league screwed up here BIG TIME – the Blackhawks or Bruins will be getting the short end of the stick IF the league doesn't step in because the Hawks or Bruins will need to be compensated because one of us isn't getting the pick that was promised to us because Floridas 2027 first round pick technically belongs to Boston but it also will belong to the Hawks if the pick is 11th overall – 32nd overall… We'll see but this is a really big oversight by someone and it's MUCH bigger than just a "snafu" – this could be franchise altering for the Hawks or Boston – especially the Hawks – if that pick becomes a top 10 and COULD BE used as a sweetener in a trade to move up and draft Gavin McKenna. And picks #6 and #10 would certainly be enough to realistically move up to #2 and grab McKenna if he's not taken first overall – and there is a good chance the Hawks brass are entertaining that idea given the wealth of prospects the Hawks already have. Now is a better time than ever to take that big swing and land another potential franchise player so this "mistake" by the league or Florida could prevent THAT from happening so it is "franchise altering" if the Hawks get screwed – and of course Boston gets screwed as well because the 2027 pick would become the Hawks, when Boston technically owns the pick.

Davidson and the Bruins GM need to get together and press BOTH the league and Florida for answers because teams cant legally trade the same pick twice and that's PRECISELY what Florida has done… And honestly, Florida should be FINED for this and/or be penalized draft picks for trading the same pick twice…
