Denver Broncos Just Got Triply Screwed…
Denver Broncos got absolutely screwed at NFL Honors last night. Three players or coaches who sooooo deserved awards got beat out by guys who didn’t deserve it. Sean Payton absolutely deserved votes in the coach of the year award. No coach in the NFL has done more with less than Sean Payton. The Denver Broncos are down 6 first or 2nd round picks because of the Russell Wilson trade and just finished paying the biggest deadcap hit in NFL History. Imagine what this team would look like with 6 first or second rounders on the team! In addition to that, we see Garrett Bolles lose out on Protector of the Year, an award he absolutely deserved for keeping Bo Nix upright the entire season. He didn’t allow a single sack, despite going against the best pass rushers in the NFL. Yes, Bo Nix gets a lot of credit for not taking sacks, but Garrett Bolles is a beast and more deserving of the award than Thuney. Lastly, Vance Joseph has coached his butt off for multiple seasons and is more deserving of the award than Josh McDaniels. No other way to put it. Don’t worry, we know Bo Nix and this Denver Broncos offense will bounce back better and more motivated because they now have a huge chip on their shoulder.

The fact that we were the #1 seed. Lost the AFC championship by only 3 points while missing QB1, RB1, WR2 & WR3. Freed up 35 million in cap space for next year. Yet we're not in the top 10 favorites for next years Superbowl is insanity.

The end of last year, I predicted we would go a game further in the play-offs, and play in the SB next year. I was pleasantly surprised how close we came to the big game this year, but felt strongly that next year would be our best chance. Sean got a ton of negative attention after going for it early, not taking the fg n losing by 3. Right or wrong, I think that held sway in the voting. Love the Broncos! Love what they did this year and how they did it! I still think that SB is coming next year!
I keep a stat called real strength of schedule. It’s calculated with the opponents winning percentage at the time of the contest and their final record. So beating an undefeated team (.1000) that goes on to lose half their games (.500) still counts as a .750. It’s not anything special but it bears out who will win playoff games at 82% The spread between the Seahawks and Patriots is almost .800. When the Broncos played the Patriots it was .500 which is why we would’ve won had Bo been healthy. Btw. The Patriots and Bills both had the easiest schedule by .4 something. Interestingly, the Bills actually had an easier schedule than the Patriots. Anyway, my two cents I love your content and I will watch you all off-season.
Thuney won because Caleb Williams had 44 fewer sacks. Adding Thuney was a huge help. With Garrett Bolles, Russell Wilson had the 2nd most sacks, and since Bo Nix they have been top 3 fewest sacks. Bo helped Garrett. I guarantee the Broncos would trade Garrett Bolles for just one first round draft pick.
