Anthony Davis’ first visit with Wizards was ‘great,’ but he’s got questions

  1. TL;DR:

Anthony Davis says reports that he’s unhappy about being traded to the Wizards are exaggerated. He says he didn’t say what’s been attributed to him and has actually had a positive first impression of the organization after meeting with ownership and the front office. Davis praised the facilities, how the team treats players and families, and the city of D.C. overall.

That said, he’s keeping an open mind. Davis is clear that at this stage of his career, his priority is competing for a championship. He wants detailed conversations with Wizards leadership about the long-term plan and how they intend to move from a rebuild to true contention. He’s under contract through next season with a player option after that, and his future in D.C. depends heavily on the team’s vision and execution.

Bottom line: not miserable, not committed either. He’s listening, evaluating the plan, and wants to see a real path to winning.

  2. This is exactly how he should feel. Are you really going to contend, or is this just an audition for another trade to a contender? Any of those options are possible, his player option isn’t until 2028.

  3. The part about Rich Paul not being informed of the trade before it happened is excellent news.

  4. To me this is very ideal, in that I do not want him signing an extension this offseason, and it seems like he wants to keep his options open.

  5. if he manages to put any kind of pressure on the front office to “win now” it’ll be a miracle for him and a disaster for us

  6. AD still has gone through it in the past year. He didn’t think he would get traded to dallas. now he is in DC. as long as he hoops for us and is a good leader, everything will be good. none of these reports bother me.
