Nikola Vucevic in his first game with Boston: 11 points, 12 rebounds (6 each way), 4 assists, 2 steals on 4-8 FG, 0-1 3 PT, and 3-4 shooting FT. Thoughts?

  1. Here are mine: he seems to be pretty much as advertised and this is probably the most I had hoped for on a short timeline having to learn the playbook. I thought he played decent defense but was really impressed with how he played down the stretch as well. Wish he was a bit more physical, but I really couldn’t ask more from him.

He’s gonna be great moving forward.

  2. Fit right in, seems to always just make the right play. He would have had more assists if we weren’t bricking everything most of the game.

  3. Miami had a really hard time in the 3rd with the PP/White/Vucevic 3-man game

Vucevic consistently got great mismatches in the paint. For the first time in years, we are going to have to start figuring out how to throw some entry passes in the low post

  4. He understands his role perfectly as a post threat with this spacing. Simons is redundant with Pritchard on the bench compared to what Vuc can offer against physical teams

  5. I missed those entry passes to a capable outlet in the paint. Pritchard really used the advantage well. I am guessing it will be the case for White and JB in no time. They are back in the menu rn, as well as two bigs line ups when needed.

  6. First game already tested for a comeback win, ohh i remember he’s tested and hits multiple game winner.

He’s passing ability is very well what more with chemistry with team.

Hope I can see him play with tatum.

  7. We need to get better at finding him early on post ups. Gotta get good at those entry passes because he is a threat to pass out of those post ups and get us open looks we are missing.

  8. He gave me Kirstaps flashbacks when our offense clicked so much White/Brown feeding him. I missed to have that threat there.

  9. He’s a load on offense, his post up game is nasty and we haven’t had that all year. He knows how to seal off and use angles and his passing is great. Jokic light. Great pickup.

  10. Tbh Vucevic was great in the post. Scoring and passing out of the post to open shooters but we couldn’t drop more open shots. Vooch might even get more minutes as the 5 usurping both Querta and Luka

  11. He’s going to thrive here and he’ll also help open this up offensively with his ability to pass out of the post. Just have to learn each other’s tendencies. Our depth is just stupid.

  12. Exactly what he’s supposed to be. A plus on offense and not great on defense. I think he’s a good fit for this team. Wish he was a better defender but I think he’s a net positive out there. This was his first game and he looked good, he’ll be even better when he gets comfortable

  13. Love his ability to post up and deal, was impressed with the passing. Loved the offensive and defensive rebounding and although he had a few defensive lapses it wasn’t problematic as he had 2 steals as well. Looking forward to seeing how he looks when he gets to actually practice with us, that man didn’t force anything and was a part in that comeback in his first game

  14. He knows his role in Boston and will play well with the team. Excited to see what Vooch can do.

  15. Discount tingus pingus? And I mean that in a good way. Reminded me a lot of what we had when KP was healthy

  16. Teams will now have to come up with additional defensive schemes to go against us when his in the line up. Not as unique as KP but strong deep post play will lead to a lot of open shooters.

Might make the Detroit bigs take us more serious now.

  17. Should have had more assists. He made some great passes, but guys (*cough, Hauser, * cough) missed wide open looks. We can run some great plays thru him because he can pass and shoot so well, so he will open up the floor running plays thru him ❤️👍

  18. Vuc is gonna give a solid 14 to 20 pnts a game and 10+ rebounds, he has done it his entire career, he’s also a good passer and 3 pnt shooter, athletic bigs give him trouble, he is slower footed at age 35 but he takes care of his body and rarely misses games, he will fit with you guys better the us (Bulls), we have no defense and run up and down the court, he’s late in his career to be on a rebuilding team, I think our FO did him a solid and sent him to a contender so he could have a chance at a ring
