Solid back up and mentor for Ben Rice.
If this player can keep up his performance this season such as keeping his batting average close to Aaron Judge (preferably at 280 if not 300) as well as hitting RBIs or home runs frequently, we could see an improved regular season record this season as well as winning the World Series this year. What I was concerned is that he will turn 39 this season, which in other words, he will be old. Most MLB players retire when they are at 38 years old and there are barely any players who stay in their careers at 40 years or older. For now, welcome back to the Bronx, Goldie!!!
The 2026 season would pretty much be tough for the Mets because they signed the 2 former Yankees closers (Luke Weaver and Devin Williams) and the 2 star players (Bo Bichette and Freddy Peralta). So, the only way for Yankees to improve their regular season record and win World Series this year is if their defense can deal with Bo Bichette and if their offense can keep up by getting RBIs or home runs from Luke Weaver, Devin Williams, and Freddy Peralta. So, this is where Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe needs to kick in.
The good thing for Mets is that they can now beat Dodgers to avoid getting them to the World Series, but Yankees winning the World Series is the tough part.
Don't like it at all people forget how bad it got !!
Here's another opinion. Maybe they are bringing Goldy back to move rice to catcher full time.. maybe Wells and McMahon and Dominguez get moved with prospects to SD for either Betts or Machado along with Estrada or Miller or maybe both 🤔🤔🤯
Welcome back godly .
Jesus h,,,,here we go ,,,,same poop ……we don't need this good god
Goldy!!!!
He can help Rice with his defense
A steady veteran presence in the clubhouse.
Good as GOLD…..
Veterans are much needed for the young guys coming up. Good move.
I think they over used Goldy a bit last year and he lost his legs in the end. As platoon bat / RH pinch hitter, I think this is a good move.
