Let’s fucking goooo! Season savedddd!!!!! Craig Breslow is a champ!!! 💀
The Red Sox claimed Cheng off waivers from the Nationals on Friday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
It’s the fifth organization Cheng has been in this offseason, as he has been bouncing around all winter via waivers. The 24-year-old went hitless in seven plate appearances during a cup of coffee in the majors and slashed only .209/.307/.271 at Triple-A Indianapolis in the Pirates organization last season, but he’s known for a reliable infield glove.
Pirates are my NL team, and I can say without a doubt that you will find Cheng can wear a uniform and catch a baseball. He never hit above A ball, so he’s strictly a defensive replacement kind of guy.
This guy’s name sounds like a sneeze.
Finally our Bregman replacement!
Finally the move we’ve all been waiting for!
We going Sizzla!
This is getting comical
Just a depth piece going into training camp, but what’s interesting now is who comes off the 40-man to make room for IKF? Cheng is replacing someone.
Tsung Tsung Tsung sahur
Full throttle, baby! Open up that vault, JH!!!
If you are a an infielder that cannot hit and are a free agent this week, Craig Breslow would like a word
Wait, where’s the guy who’ll explain to us skeptics that Cheng’s “underlying advanced metrics” are “fascinating,” particularly when he faces right-handed pitchers born before 1992 on alternate Tuesdays in games played indoors?
FUCK YEA
Full throttle

Adding Cheng at a league minimum salary is a no-lose scenario so I’m happy with it. My understanding is that he’s genuinely good (not great) defender at shortstop.
But for a team this sensitive about luxury tax implications, that just made the Hicks trade to save money, why did we spend $6MM on IKF when Cheng is basically free for the taking?
My best guess, is that Cheng is probably a complete black hole as a batter, and IKF has a track record of at least being within squinting distance of league average. I have a hard time believing that by itself is worth 6 million, but I guess IKF has a track record and can hang with the big boys. But god it just feels so pathetic to be doing deep dives into those kinds of distinctions.
between cheng IKF and Rodgers no balls are getting out of the infield.Â
for either team.Â
Again, were just going to throw as many guys at second in spring training and see who comes out on top I guess.
Oh man lol

All these people who think too much depth at a position is a bad thing….
Now we go!
I’m happy cause he’s from my country, but ai don’t think he’ll get much chance or either provide much though. still wish him success.
