  1. This might be the best Ryan in the family? If you read Rex's bio, he barely graduated high school. His post game pressers were a clown act. No wonder Rex is on ESPN, for entertainment. I trust Seth will be a breath of fresh air.

  2. They let the guy who had the most Ben Johnson experience walk to Atlanta. But, I guess, he wanted a fresh start and saw no path to OC here again if Reich and Glenn actually get this thing aligned.

  3. Ian compared to many content providers is kind of the optimist.

There is an old joke, about parents who have twin sons, one of whom is the ultimate pessimist, one of them the ultimate optimist. The parents, feeling this isn't normal , take them to a shrink, who tells the parents ' next christmas, give the pessimistic kid a bunch of neat toys,to balance out his pessimism, and give the optimist a pile of horse manure to temper his optimism'. Comes Christmas day, and they found the pessimist sitting in front of the pile of toys, crying. They asked why and he said ' I love the toys, but I am afraid to play with them because I might break them and that is why I am crying'.

They go to the room where they put the pile of horse manure, and the optimist is happily digging in it. He sees the parents, and asks for a shovel. When the parents ask him why, he says ' with all this horse poop, there has to be a pony here somewhere'. Ian is the optimist kid, other content creators are the pessimist :)..

Good analysis of Reich and possible ways to go in the future. Given that fans expectations are modest, Reich is solid enough to give us a non disaster season.

  4. So what were the circumstances a year ago that led to bad staffing choices? It feels like there’s been a major shift in approach as far as standards and big picture staff construction. It’s great but it begs the question – what the hell was that last year?

  5. This Jets staff rebuild looks a lot like the 22’ Lions and 23’ Texans blueprint. Both teams stopped experimenting with rookie coaches and brought in experienced, proven assistants with clear roles. Detroit became functional and disciplined. Houston gave their QB structure and consistency.

That’s exactly what the Jets are doing now — Reich stabilizes the offense, Seth Ryan brings passing-game structure, Roberts develops TEs + weaponizing the middle of the field, which That matters a ton in a Reich-style offense, Dunbar keeps the DL elite. Last year was a staff learning on the job. This year looks like a staff that knows how to win close games.

Turnarounds start with coaching — not hype.
