Bears OC search has been almost dead silent. Are they waiting on someone from a SB team?
February 8, 2026
Organized, Hard Working, Current TE coach & PGC, has worked under McVay, McDaniels, connects well with players, a year to wash the Eberstink off of his resume.

I don’t think he is exactly fond of his time in Chicago
I really just hope we hire that guy from the Cardinals and call it a day. I feel like Ben’s great at finding hidden talent and up and coming youngins trying to make a name for themselves.
Press Taylor’s track record just terrifies me even though I know Ben would be the play caller
It is weird how quiet it’s been. An ESPN article mentioned some Seattle assistants that are highly thought of (not specifically related to us). Maybe? I’d think Press Taylor would’ve probably been bumped up by now if the choice was him.
I know they interviewed Connor Senger for OC last week but he had interviews elsewhere for QB coach.
It wouldnt shock me if they promoted Press Taylor to OC. The role seems to essentially be “tape grinder” for Ben. Will Lawing, the old BC OC was hired for some unknown offensive role, maybe he becomes pass game coordinator in place of Press.
Highly doubt Brown comes back here, esp after a SB appearance.
The likelihood is more of not many are wanting to go into an OC role and not be a play caller. Because they want to ultimately become a HC themselves.
So it’s going to take that special person to go hey I will learn how to coach all up.Then in the background how to play call.
This sounds racist but might as well hire a person of colour with upside. It’s a good way to build assets in a somewhat meaningless position in Johnson’s offense.
He beat the Packers more times than Eberfloser did.
I thought we moved on from that era
Chances are they are going to promote from within.
I don’t believe the specifics of Seth Wickersham’s article, but I do believe there was massive friction between last year’s staff and team. It was not just Caleb, but rather the team in its entirety. Why bring someone back from that era if others are out there? I wish him well but but thanks
Personally, I wouldn’t hate it. I feel like he was able to connect with Caleb.
Not happening but man I love me some TB!
Absolutely not
Don’t want that scrub
I think there is about a 64.7% chance that the next OC is going to be promoted from within the organization
I doubt they’re aiming that high. They’re probably looking internally or at the collegiate ranks. Being the coordinator of Ben’s system while he’s calling the plays is more of a fit hire, an assistant coach that has the ability to learn and direct the established offense during practices rather than design one or install their own.
He was the only good thing about the coaching staff last year.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Caleb’s most impressive games last season were when Thomas Brown was the OC after Waldron got fired and now Drake Maye is having a breakout year with him as the passing game coordinator.
This man was the perfect bridge to get the vibes right
Thomas Brown was respected. Probably no HC material yet. OC yes.
Maybe they’re waiting for the 28 year old QB coach from the pats instead
If Kingsbury gets the OC title in LA I’d love to at least interview Scheelhaase for the position. I know there’s almost no chance he’d leave the Rams for a non-play calling OC role in the same conference but it’s at least worth kicking the tires imo.
Too bad Nagy got snatched up.
/s 🤮
I remember hearing TB’s press conferences after he got the interim head coaching job at the end of 2024 season. It felt like a breath of fresh air compared to Eberflus. It was like night and day difference between TB and Flus.
I heard his interview on CHGO at the Super Bowl this week, and I gotta say, while he is still an articulate guy and likely future head coach, imo he is several levels below Ben Johnson just in terms of his presence. Granted the circumstances were completely different, and TB’s interview was just a quick piece, but it’s just interesting how your perspective changes once you elevate your standards!
We have the OC as our head coach already we could honestly hire anyone at oc I feel like
