Why would the Pacers make this trade now. Makes it harder for them to tank and they could lose the pick in a stacked draft. If they wait till after the lottery that trade would still be there and they could possibly get a lot for that pick if they didn't like anyone left at 5+…
If the Indiana front office believes they're right there to win a title, why did they go cheap on Turner? I'd argue the "improvement" Zubac has over Turner isn't worth the 2 FRPs.
The Pacers are no longer tanking. They are getting the 10th pick. They aren't rolling in dice, Carlisle and Pritchard aren't giving away thst pick. They are gonna try to have the 10th worst record in the league. The 1-4 is protection in case the plan goes wrong.
The only thing I would have changed in that deal if I were the Pacers is push the protected pick 1 year forward to 2027, heck make it even unprotected. They have a perfect window to draft another major talent in this years draft to play with Hali and Siakam so why even role the dice? They would be contenders for years to come but they pushed their luck again hoping the balls falls their way.
Look this Pacer team even without that pick are serious contenders next year. Haliburton comes back and they are playing most of the year without the leagues best backup 4 in Toppin
The pacers fleeced the clippers badly
It was tied 16-16 when Hali went down in Game 7 lol
