[MLB] YK: Dave Winfield was the 1st athlete in history to be drafted by 4 different pro leagues. The 4th overall selection in the 1973 MLB Draft by the Padres was also taken in the 5th rd of the 1973 NBA Draft, the 6th rd of the 1973 ABA Draft & the 17th rd of the 1973 NFL Draft. #BlackHistoryMonth

What a G! I am lucky enough to have an autographed baseball by this legend.
I’m gonna assume the ONLY athlete too
Well 3/4 of those draft positions don’t even exist anymore
Hypothetically. Lebron James would be selected #1 NBA & ABA. I can see an NFL team draft him around 15 rounds of NFL if it went that long. But baseball…probably undrafted. Thats how hard baseball is.
Won the College World Series as a pitcher, and never spent a day in the minor leagues. ***LEGEND***
Drafted to be a lawyer? Whaaaaaaat?
Let’s be honest, he could have run a few lines with the Gulls as well who doubts it
Winfield had those long languid strides. Legend
Man I had completely forgotten the ABA was a thing, that was a fun Wikipedia dive
Tony Gwynn was a first-round pick of the San Diego Padres and San Diego Clippers. Still the all-time Assists leader at SDSU.
Before reading the full post my mind went to, ‘Wait, he played hockey, too?!’. The ABA makes way more sense. You da man, Dave.
