Woke up thinking about the first full-capacity home game after lockdown

Ah yes the home re-opener. Talk about highs & lows from a 9th inning! We were there and it’s a game we still talk about it.
We refer to it because 2021 is the year that almost broke me as a lifelong Padre fan. Every bitterly disappointing season/postseason since has been tempered because 2021 set us up for it – meaning gut wrenching disappointment in this Padres era. There were just so many great moments in 2021 – from big ones like this game and the Camarena grand slam and sweeping the Dodgers at home to smaller ones like Jake’s inside the park homerun. All that to then get swept 3x in a row by the D’s and of course missing the playoffs.
Aah to be a Padres fan…still here and still loving them, just more ready for the pain at any time haha
