Red Sox Insider Tyler Milliken on Red Sox trade:
“Multiple industry sources identified Brewers infielder Caleb Durbin as a potential Red Sox target, per Alex Speier. He finished 3rd in Rookie of the Year voting in 2025. Had a 101 OPS+ in 136 games. Played a strong 3B. Has experience at 2B/SS/3B and the outfield.”

Chris Cotillo on the Caleb Durbin trade:
“Caleb Durbin finished third in NL ROY voting last year and is under team control for a while, through 2031. He played a ton of third base and a little bit at second. With Durbin, IKF and Mayer, Red Sox have options for 2B and 3B. The question: Where does the power come from?”
Tim Healey on the Caleb Durbin trade:
“This is a fun and highly productive trade. Durbin should be able to slot in as the most-days starter at third base. That leaves second base for Marcelo Mayer and Romy Gonzalez. Of course, all of the above are versatile, and Monasterio and Kiner-Falefa are around. Many options.”

One-word reaction to the Caleb Durbin trade?
We held on to everyone that we should have, this was a great trade plus getting the draft pick i feel like is big.
I think the brewers sold high on durbin, solid player better person.
B+
Put monasterio at 2B
Give A Grade Red sox
Fleeced again 4 guys for 3 and gave up another hitter Collin Durdin I know they 260 hitters but have done ZERO to replace them. They hit against Rockies As WS but what did they do in playoffs. You can have a million arms but you have to hit. Plus the have ZERO power.
B
I give this an A. He may not be one of the big names we were talking about all offseason but he’s gonna be a stud
B
This proves the Red Sox are more interested in saving money and years of control than winning the World Series. So a lineup with little power, it's not good.
B on the trade. Still would have preferred Paredes. Best part of the trade is David Hamilton is gone!
Solid
I feel he'll be the everyday second basemen because of the height
I hope that this is our replacement for Dustin Pedrioa at second base. Play him at second and let Marcelo play third but I will leave that for Alex Cora
I think they should just cut Yoshida at this point
We now have nothing left from the Devers trade?? I don’t know how we are better off??
Caleb Durbin:
One Word: Control
Grade: B+
B
YES!
A. They didn’t give up a lot either.
B
Trade in a vacuum: B – given that its indirectly related to the Raffy trade: C
Solid B

I like this trade! I feel, like you said, there’s a really high upside potential here! A
Superb trade!
Again, redsox acquire mediocre players!!
Brewer fans seem upset. So that's good!
Yankee! Haha
B+. Given the timing, cost and consideration of remaining MLB 3rd basemen still available for trade, I like this option best.
P gave up too much pitching
B+
Far from a guarantee, but I hope that Casas gets back on track. Maybe comes back up in May, and becomes a middle of the order power bat.
I'm not sure Durban plays 3rd. Apparently he didn't play a lot now 3rd base until coming up from triple A. He mostly played 2nd in the minors and we have heard the Red Sox want to keep Meyer on the left side.
This still doesn't get the team over the hump unfortunately. Still another trade but a player with no power. I prefer him over all the other names tossed around though.
Has the tools to be a leadoff hitter. Moving RM down the order would be nice.
B+ trade. Solid.
B+ man! Fair trade from both sides. Rumor is there still a want Chi Shaw, true?
When all is said and done they still need a big power right handed bat…………This is Fenway Park!
Subscribed, congrats on 9k
Really like the trade alot, but they still have a bit of a mess on their hands. 4 Outfielders, plus Yoshida, plus Campbell, plus Casas when he comes back. They still need to trade one of these guys, not Sandoval.
IMO – I believe he will end up at 2B, looking at his minor leagues stats he didn't play 3B until last season in the bigs.
Economical
A grade on this trade. Fills a massive hole and we gave up literally nothing. We have all of our pitching and offense still intact.
