Setting aside morals (I would've ended my fandom if the Falcons got Deshaun Watson), I don't see how JPJ isn't put on the commissioner exempt list while his legal situation plays out. Even as a first time offender with $, it's hard not to see JPJ getting jail time given the felonies + DV + police battery. He'll most likely take a plea deal, but it will still include some jail/prison.

I think he's out for at least a year. Then it depends on what the Falcons want to do with him, but given his talent he will still get NFL opportunities.

    James Pearce Jr. “intentionally” hit an officer with his Lamborghini while evading law enforcement after an alleged domestic dispute with WNBA star Rickea Jackson, according to police docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

    Jackson told police she and Pearce Jr. recently ended a three-year relationship, saying she blocked the 23-year-old’s number to stop further contact, but it didn’t work. Rickea told police James used an alternate phone to continue contacting her.

    On February 7 — as she was leaving an apartment complex — Jackson noticed Pearce Jr.’s Lambo SUV behind her … and attempted to get away. While at a red light, she says he approached her vehicle and attempted to open the door.

    The L.A. Sparks forward told cops she then drove toward the Doral City Police Department, but Pearce Jr. wasn’t deterred, ’cause cops write in the report that he “intentionally collided into the rear of her vehicle.”

    After getting away, the Falcons linebacker cut her off again — and crashed head-on with her vehicle.

    Moments later, cops arrived on scene, drew their weapons, and started giving Pearce Jr. verbal commands, which they say Pearce Jr. ignored. An officer attempted to open the door, but Pearce Jr. locked it.

    Cops attempted to open the door a second time, but Pearce drove away, with the report stating he struck an officer “in the area of his left knee intentionally in an attempt to evade arrest.”

    Following a brief pursuit, James crashed his car and took off on foot. Officers eventually caught up with the Falcons’ first-round draft pick, but he began resisting “by tensing his arms and not allowing officers to apprehend him.”

    He was eventually taken into custody … and booked on two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, and fleeing/eluding police.

    Pearce Jr. made his first court appearance Sunday from his jail cell in Miami, where bond was set at $20,500. A stay-away order was also issued.

    Neither Pearce Jr. nor Jackson has spoken on the situation.

  4. Ray rice’s original suspension was 2 games. They only made it indefinite after people were abhorred by the slap on the wrist. He successfully appealed that suspension but it didn’t matter because no one wanted him.

  7. I just don’t see him getting serious jail time over this. Maybe I’m coping pretty hard, but we’ve seen some players get away with egregious acts that are of a similar caliber, not get a single thing, and get some game suspensions.

    NAL, but I think the only thing the cops care about is evading the police or potential assault of a police officer or resisting arrest, which may come and bite him, but I still feel like it’s gonna be a less than a year thing that he might be able to pay off or something.

    I might be wrong, though.

  15. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY, but you are insane if you think this is a slap on the wrist. At least a 1 year suspension. Florida don’t fuck around they’re going to make an example out of him. Best believe if this is all true Arthur will get rid of him.

  20. I’ll say, it’s…. interesting to see some folks hoping that h can still play for the team at some point. If this guy had abused your female family member I wonder if they would hope for his rehabilitation. Unfortunately I think it’s just folks being selfish because he plays for the Falcons.

  21. I follow the WNBA and his craziness/abuse has always kind of been there. Rickea would say publicly that she was single and he then would show up to games and post about her on IG. She took two weeks off very suddenly for personal reasons. She would cry during games. Just truly horrible, heartbreaking vibes all around and it was clear that she had been trying to get away from him for some time. It’s really devastating to see it all out in the open now. I just hope she has a good support system around her.

    If this dude wasn’t a seriously talented player at one of the most valued positions in the NFL there would be no question about what would happen with him.

    Really going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. I can’t really see a scenario where he ever plays for the Falcons again, but this day and age, I guess I wouldn’t be all that shocked.
