[Stein] BREAKING: An unidentified Dallas investor group is interested in partnering with Mark Cuban to buy the Mavericks back from Patrick Dumont. A source close to Dumont told me “the family remains excited about the future of the franchise and the Cooper Flagg era.”

  12. Cuban was an idiot for selling it in the first place, but at this point buying it back would be infinitely better. What’s done is done, this needs to be for the sake of the franchise.

    Also wonder if the news about the two new NBA teams, one in Vegas, has the Adelsons inclined to sell here.

  18. Since it seems like gambling isn’t getting legalized, I actually think there is a non zero chance this happens.

    I know Dumont fucked up about as bad as you could possibly fuck up, but he honestly seems to recognize the mistake and has made at least some good moves (trading AD, firing Nico). Cuban was mostly atrocious after 2011, I’m not sure I would be excited about him having real input again.

  24. I mean kind of crazy timing as the NBA is voting for a expansion team for most likely Seattle and Vegas. Maybe the Addison’s can see that gambling won’t pass in Texas and they can just buy the expansion team and Vegas and make things easier.

    This is such a mental cluster fuck. Can’t stand the current owners and I blame Cuban for selling to them which created this nightmare in the first place. What a vicious cycle.

I know Mark Cuban has giant faults and was an idiot for selling the team and thinking he could still run the operations without a contract, but you can’t deny that he loved the Mavs and the fans. While the current owner is sitting on stage with Trump saying that she will donate another 100 mil to his illegal 2028 campaign, Cuban’s faults seem workable in comparison. I just want to root for the Mavs again and criticize Cuban here and there.
