Cardinals reportedly sign teenage flamethrower in international free agency!

According to baseball reporter Francys Romero, the Cardinals are signing international free agent Leonil De Leon out of the Dominican Republic.

De Leon is described as one of the top pitchers in this international free agent class. Is this late addition to the class a big get for St. Louis?

  1. I like this signing 400k is a lot of money to me and you, but in baseball, it's peanuts, especially if he works out to be a stud. I also think that the position the Cardinals are in you have to be willing to take a couple of risks

  2. The brewers always have a stable of mercenary, Latin American arms. It looks like always having 2-4 guys, age 22-27 that are only good for 3-5 years max. They don't cost alot and they will pitch every day to pitch their arms off. Brewers always have a bullpen that's top 5 for no money with a bunch of names you never heard of. They can flip them, keep them, burn them up in a playoff run or championship run. I am for maximum investment in young Latin arms since we will never be able to bring any Asian players here. Building your pitching staff with young cheap arms, maybe a free agent in a run, and then having flexibility to spend on position players, is the way to go. In actually excited for the 2030 season!
